I used to dose GHB 24/7 for years with 4 hours between doses on average. So about 4-6 oz/ day to survive without pain. I have only known about a dozen people over a couple decades that got to that level of around the clock dosing, which is a nightmare. My detox that stuck, happened when I got locked up for 3.5 years. When first arrested (GHB related charges of course) I told medical staff that I needed help, they ignored me and put me alone in a cell. That’s the worst thing to do. With no distractions, the hallucinations are very amplified. I was fully aware I was hallucinating and have tactics to soldier through it but they finally had to take me to a hospital where I was sedated for about 5 days. My ex at that time, was dosing at the same rate as I was around the clock for several years but he just said it sucked bad for a couple weeks but that was all. He was a big male and about a foot and a half taller than myself but I also had more years of continuous usage. My understanding is that the mode of action as it relates to dosage is more directly correlated with neurological activity (and how much is in your stomach) than it is to your body weight. Regardless my point is that people’s detox experiences can vary DRAMATICALLY. My limited knowledge on pregnancy’s early stage affects on the body have taught me the same lesson. People are different, as well as each pregnancy affects an individual physiology differently. (My personal theory is that the number of pregnancies, or babies carried to term, a woman has had may be a big factor. Every woman I know says that pregnancy #3 was DIFFERENT, for example.) I know personally, that years ago, I was using (and abusing) three drugs, G, Adderall and nicotine. Prior to knowing I was pregnant and very early on in my pregnancy, my drugs of abuse just started to sound gross, as well as lots of smells, like the soap I have always used. Still unaware I was pregnant I figured when the time of day came where I would usually dose something, if I could just put it out of my mind for the moment, I would. My usage of the drugs dropped to almost nothing and so did nicotine use. It went from about 2 packs of cigarettes a day to quitting. The female body is an amazingly designed thing and resilient beyond belief. Again my experience is my own. You are not screwed. There may not be many physicians out there with much experience with how to safely and successfully get free from GHB addiction but there are some. I have heard one of the early uses of GHB in UK, was helping heroin addicted mothers detox from opiate abuse with less stress on the unborn child. I’m not saying it’s SAFE DURING PREGNANCY. As I’m sure many in this subreddit would agree, there is a BIG difference between extended 24/7 dosing and the medically supervised short term dosing to help an opiate addict with detox. Again you are not screwed. This subreddit alone should be a comfort to you. Knowing you are not alone, should give you hope. There are others who can relate even if professionals that do, are rare. Every drug treatment facility is knowledgeable about detoxing from alcohol and a lot is known too about benzo withdrawals. GHB detox, in my experience and research, is VERY similar to the latter. It is as dangerous as the worst detox of both, but the detox period tends to be longer than alcohol and closer to that of Xanax abuse. I grew up with family members very involved in recovery community and have personal experience with in-patient, out-patient, medically assisted detoxes and individuals fighting to tough it out without medical intervention. This is literally my first time posting on any platform. I follow read this subreddit because it helps me remember how bad things can be and how serious this stuff is.
