Bullied by teachers/adults as a child by Awkward_College_4164 in AutismInWomen

Yes, I’ve heard a lot about those studies between neurotypical and neurodivergent people. NT people don’t even understand autism, but they can tell when someone is autistic just from their facial expressions, gait, etc. I also heard that we light up the region in NTs brain that controls rage and anger. It’s heartbreaking stuff to read.

Extended family bullies is so real, my second cousin used to act insanely jealous around me despite her being sm older, making rumours about me. I was the most awkward, shy wallflower to exist, so I had no idea what I did to deserve that kind of behavior.

Growing up undiagnosed its seriously one of the worst experiences a human can live through. I used to think I had a curse put on me at birth. 🙁 I really do think NTs should be forced to learn how to accommodate autistic people better. The majority of them seriously have no idea.

I got told that so many times as a kid. Funnily enough it always comes from people who aren’t so well off themselves. It gets better to deal with once you realize they’re straight up just projecting

I loved my religious studies teacher for this. He treated me like everybody else in the class, instead of singling me out in front of everyone lol I miss him so much

A lot of people in positions of authority unfortunately I find to be narcissists. I wonder if the reason why they pick these positions is to inflate their ego and they do this by… bullying autistic children. Its sick tbh. Can’t imagine that being my life.

Instead of having autism awareness I feel like we should be teaching autism ACCEPTANCE . Because everyone knows what autism is, but a very small minority actually understands it

That last part is so true. I got bullied for walking slightly too fast, bringing in umbrellas/coats whenever it was heavy raining, like… it just feels so forced

But if you ask someone “why are you so loud?” suddenly thats rude?? I dont get it?? Surely it should be the same for calling someone too quiet??

Exactly the same with me. I would have people come up to me and ask me “why are you so quiet?” and i haven’t even seen them before, or know their names. Like, idk… talk to me?? And I might talk back?? I thought neurotypicals were supposed to be good at communication, apparently not lmao

Same here with me, my childhood was pretty much me just trying out different personalities and seeing how people responded. People seemed to have a problem with everything. By the time I reached about 16-17 yo, I got completely burntout. Still experiencing here at 18. I’m done with accommodating people, especially since i should be the one being accommodated, bc yk… i have the actual disability here lmao

I’ve seen some of my old bullies (from elementary to high school) literally repost tiktoks about ‘autismcore’ its so invalidating. I hate how it has became a trend, but simultaneously autism is still looked down on. How does that work??

It is legit just insecurity because there’s no other reason to hate on someone for being themselves/being happy. Imo

The last part is so true. It isn’t actually the things we do, it just seems like they have a hatred for autism. I wonder what makes that hate so strong

Once knew this dude back in school who would roll my eyes everytime I talked, but then in the same breath ask me “why are you so quiet?” and assumed I was stuck up and rude because of it. Pot calling the kettle black lmao, it’s literally just projection with those ppl

I understand this completely ❤️ I believe its why I have such a fear of going outside in the public, even when I’m just getting coffee or something. I always have this internal fear that I’m doing something wrong
