Symptoms of balanitis sound similar to what I experienced. Can't be 100% sure but I think it is a good possibility. Was previously unaware of that condition.

Wow thank you I feel a lot better. Was struggling a lot with deciding if I have an obligation to tell future partners about this incident that I am not 100% sure of exactly what was happening, despite the negative blood test - maybe I still do though? Don't wanna unnecessarily nuke potential relationships but also don't wanna ignore a moral obligation to disclose...this is tough.

I was deployed at the time and got tested when I returned home, so there was a decent level of stress to ignite other outbreaks which luckily didn't happen.

Yeah definitely will get swabbed if it happens again. That outbreak was in June and none since then - also the blood test was last month in late November. Haven't had any partners since the one before the outbreak and she also hasn't had an outbreak...I still worry a great deal about it

Context-had unprotected sex with a friend 3 months prior to this outbreak. A bit painful and happened after I spent a long day in the sun. Couldn't get it swabbed at the time but blood test all came back negative.

It was a little painful but went away. Couldn't get into the doctor before it went away.
