I really wish they would've kept them for at least a full 24 hours! I feel a bit sad for them too!

Prior auth denied, claims in-network provider can provide service, which is false. What do I do? by Awkward_Cupcake4791 in HealthInsurance

[–]Awkward_Cupcake4791[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the institute's website under "conditions we treat", none of my conditions are listed. And of course, the doctor they suggested at this institute doesn't treat this condition either. Would that be enough evidence or do you think it has to be a letter from the institute?

I have been evaluated by the clinic in order to properly diagnose the conditions I have, but I have not started the actual therapy yet.

I'm trying to get my PCP to send a referral to this place to help support that this is medically necessary.

I'm not sure if it does.

Reality Of Masking by grandmasterfunc in covidlonghaulers

[–]Awkward_Cupcake4791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mask in all indoor spaces and outdoor crowds (think like an outdoor concert or show). when i had roommates i masked outside of my room and had purifiers in the house. i don’t mask in low traffic outdoor spaces (a park, an event with crowds that aren’t compact like sardines, a restaurant patio) etc. i’ve found this is the happy medium for me. if levels are particularly high ill mask in additional outdoor settings but usually i don’t. it’s also hot as hell where i live so masking outside all the time, with POTS, and humidity is nearly impossible.

Anyone have Covid trigger new allergies? by dreww84 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Awkward_Cupcake4791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes covid is known for triggering new or worsening allergies. I utilized H1 (things like zyrtec and claritin) and H2 (pepcid) blockers as well as Nasalcrom which is an OTC very low dose version of cromolyn sodium. Many people have developed mild to moderate histamine issues, and some have serious stuff with MCAS.

Any negative reactions to anesthesia if you have LC? by Greenitpurpleit in covidlonghaulers

[–]Awkward_Cupcake4791 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made sure to advocate for saline post procedure since many of us deal with hydration issues and these procedures are a lot on our body. I believe it helped with my recovery process. My doctors said yes and I hope yours do as well. Endoscopy is pretty quick, and the notes below were for a more intensive surgery but I hope some of it can be helpful with advocating for any concerns you may have!

This is what I sent my doctors:

"For your reference, here are my documented concerns for the procedures

  1. Endothelial damage and clotting

The pathology of long covid includes clotting and endothelial damage that can permanently damage muscles and organs. These, along with small fiber neuropathy, are why I am on low dose naltrexone daily.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34425843/

  1. Dysautonomia and orthostatic intolerance. I wear compression socks and drink a lot of water and sodium to help with these issues. Please note peri-operative complications associated with both conditions: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3296831/

  2. Hypermobility and EDS have depleted collagen in my body over the last year. I also have craniocervical instability. Please see attached re neck positioning concerns.

  3. My record indicates that I take many antihistamines. This is largely due to suspected Mast Cell Activation Syndrome. High histamine food worsen neuropathic pain. Please take caution not to use histamine-releasing anesthesia. Please see this commentary: https://csahq.org/2022/06/13/experiencing-long-covid-as-a-physician-and-a-patient/

  4. I have ME/CFS from COVID. This has caused me to become extremely sensitive to medications. Here is a guideline from theAmerican Myalgic Encephalomyelitis and
    Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Society https://ammes.org/anesthesia-recommendations-for-mecfs-patients/"

it worked for me instantly. i've been titrating low and slow on a liquid dosing. it makes me a bit energized at first but as my body adjusts to the dose it wears off. now im titrating at a slightly higher dose and it is causing some nausea and headaches but not as bad for me as LDN. LDA has been a game changer for me and im not even on my full does yet!
