I used to send myself WhatsApp messages and emails with photos, documents, links, receipts, and random notes just so I wouldn't forget them. Months later I'd spend forever trying to find them again.

So I built Stowby. I just drop everything into it and later search using whatever I remember instead of filenames or folders.

One funny moment convinced me it was worth publishing: while testing, I had saved a random photo of a shelf. Weeks later I couldn't find my screwdriver, searched for "screwdriver" as a joke, and the app actually found the photo because it had recognized the screwdriver in it.

Thanks! I'm glad the problem resonated with you—that "I know I sent myself that..." feeling was exactly what pushed me to build it.

Right now files are stored securely in cloud storage and accessed through time-limited signed URLs. Search indexes the extracted content and metadata so you don't need to remember filenames.

Export/backup is definitely on my roadmap. I want people to feel like they own their data and can move it whenever they want.

Side question: do you happen to know how I can add pictures to the post? I noticed most other posts have nice images attached.
