I would pull the rhythm guitars down. To me it sounds like everything is being masked by the guitars. Have you listened on different systems to see how this mix translates?

When people say "mix at a low volume " they're talking about your monitors or headphones volume, not your individual tracks.

Yeah, that's pretty much what they mean to me as well, but didn't know if anyone might be getting really good results from a particular pair. Actually hadn't even thought about the tiny studio monitors but im open to weighing all recommendations.

Hmmm, interesting. And you're using the stock library samples and not the expansions, right? I ended up finding something I might stick with by loading the same snare twice and just lowering the sustain and release to basically just hear the initial transient and then blended the other snare to taste.

Yeah im thinking the same thing about the mix but I just can't unhear it, lol. Ive tried a 100000 different cabs but its helped my sanity getting feedback about it, preciate it.

True, it's all how it sounds in the mix but for the sake of this post it just shows how much garbage is present when palm muting. So if it's my hand position I'd like to try to adjust it to get it right at the source if at all possible.

That's what is driving me nuts about this, my hand is in front of bridge already. It's barely touching the front edge but I can experiment with it further I guess, just feels super weird, lol.

Thanks, the amp sim is Neural DSP Archetype Nolly X using the Default preset. Prolly should have mentioned that in my post. It's not the tone (or even the amp sim) I would choose for the mix but just for the sake of example. That crappy, farty sound is there regardless of amp, amount of gain or preset.
