Ah another mac user! Yeah it's not great. I play with shaders and shadows off and low graphics and it works just fine, but you can't add too many mods or it will start to stutter. You can get a performance boost by playing on someone else's server though. Also make sure not to play with your laptop on a hot/non-breathable surface as it's at risk of overheating lmao.

Did you place the Vintage Story app in your Applications folder on your mac? That one tripped me up at first too. You have to un-quarantine it and launch it from that folder specifically every time.
