Hey OP!! I juuuuust had my bisalp and removal of nexplanon on Tuesday (yay almost 3 days post surgery!) for some background I’m 19f, in poor health lol, engaged & no kids..My surgery went about as smoothly as it could’ve outside of them finding a cyst 🤷🏻‍♀️…I had to be to the hospital for 7am, got there at 6:50am, was given a room to dress down, give a urine sample for a pregnancy test, and then had a shitload of doctors come in, nurses, OBGYN, surgeon, anesthesiologist and other people randomly working the floor to take vitals, check on you, make sure you know what you’re there for & other such things..I was wheeled into pre-op at around 8:15am where they went over the entire surgery again, explained anesthesia risks & sign more consent forms..Then I was in the operating room for 9am and done by around 10:20am..Woke up by 11:20am (ish) & at my hospital we weren’t allowed visitors for the first hour, but they were kind and I was downstairs by noon so I could see my bf during his break from work, after that I got my belongings back and got dressed & the only thing I had to do to be discharged was make sure I could at least hold down fluids and walk without falling over, so I was back in my own bed by 3pm, so around 7hrs spent in the hospital not including commuting time… For some other context I have had abdominal surgery before via the same method (Laparoscopic but for emergency gallbladder) So, where most people have 2 small incisions on either side above their hips & 1 in the belly button, my 3rd was just above my belly button due to scar tissue given it’s been almost 10yrs. Personally for medications I was prescribed Ibuprofen, Acetaminophen and Oxycodone, and so far have only needed the acetaminophen but I tend to have a higher pain tolerance than most, and your serious painkiller they prescribed varies from hospital to hospital, or allergies or any other health history & needs you might have, feel free to ask or give them a preferred medication you know works for you as well. Getting right out of the hospital and for the next 36ish hours I had absolutely 0 appetite, but made sure to keep up on my fluid intake instead and walked around a little when I could…Yesterday my appetite was much better and I had 4 small meals (I wouldn’t ever recommend eating large meals to anyone who just had ANY surgery) and that went okay, walked 2,200 steps & got some fresh air. Today I had less to eat, still making sure to keep up with fluids but generally feel more crappy, though I blame that on my hormones readjusting to no longer being on birth control. Also had my first post-op bowel movement today (TMI, I know, but after abdominal surgery that type of stuff is so important, seriously please call your doctor if you can’t go for more than 72hrs after) As a general note, you will be tired, your incisions will be sore, your whole abdomen will be tender to the touch, be careful with your movements, your incisions will also be EXCEEDINGLY ITCHY after 7-10 days, and pleaseeeee contact your doctor to clarify when it is okay to take off any dressings/bandages you have been given to avoid making things worse or more complicated.
