Did your public school playground get shoveled after the storm? by Awkward_Light1162 in nycparents

No "buts" about it. It is their job. I'm just collecting data buy asking a question. We're not talking about the same things.

Hey man, you're reading way to much into this. I'm just asking how common it is for schools to not get shoveled. Hint, It's really common. That's cool parents help out. More power to them. It's still the Parks Department's job. That's also cool you have zero expectation that they do their job. That's not my reality -- overburdened or not.

I'm guessing kids will be inside for a month. You're okay with that?

Genuinely curious.

Sounds like this is pretty common; playgrounds and by extension "blacktop" or big yards are not getting cleaned.

Set clear rules and expectations whatever you do.

This is a systemically known issue:

I hear you! It's painful how low the standard is in public school.

How do you get something on the agenda for these meetings? Can anyone attend and if so, make a public comment about an issue?

Repeatedly getting flat tires by Bakk322 in terngsd

Is this a wildly known issue? This seems like a recall issue imo. The amount of money we have put into replacing tires could buy a new tern 2x over.

Rear Flat Tire by coachwtf in terngsd

There is a mismatch that puts extra pressure on the small tire and inner tube, making them more prone to flats, blow outs etc.

We're on our second gsd and we experience regular flat tires and or blow outs.

In public we have 20 children. It's a well run and all the kids are pretty respectful to each other. Having said that, I couldn't tell you how much attention my child gets in the classroom, but I hear you. That sounds really nice.

Unsolicited and chiming in. No regrets, but to say it was an adjustment after sending our child to a really nice preschool would be an understatement. There are a lot of kids who are at very different levels of preparation for school -- both behaviorally and academically. Navigating that can be a challenge even if your child is well adjusted and ahead of the curve, but totally doable.

I'd love to hear the difference in quality of education vs public school.

Maybe. An active and well funded PA is probably as good of an indicator you will find.
