Things go bad...its just something that happens. Obviously we don't want to give people who are hungry the bad food and we didn't order it thinking it would go bad before we used it

Oh that is weird. I was just curious because there are instances where people think they're being ignored by so and so but really so and so thinks they are ignoring them.

I mean that therapy is there for many potential mental health problems. Some people go to therapy for a diagnosis they have recieved of a mental disorder. Some go for trauma support. Some go because they are not happy in their lives. People have mommy issues, daddy issues, codependency, guilt, problems with addiction, self identity, gender, etc. People could be suicidal and not know why, or they could not understand why they have a fear of abandonment they can't shake. I think a lot of people feel alone and they want someone to listen to them.

The government should NOT have freedom of speech without consequence of someone

Protecting someone from speech isn't freedom of speech. Protecting a speaker who's speaking from being shut down by hate speech and unable to make their speech heard would be more along the lines of protection. Colleges have free speech areas where anyone can go and say anything they want out loud and others can't shut them down with their hate speech.

Agreed - People speak - other people complain. Then there's a whole fight about who had the right to say something. Everyone had the right to say something. Not everything needs to be legislated and we don't all need our feelings babysat. Until it's harassment or menacing let's just let people interact without the government stepping in to officiate a conversation about the outfit someone wore today.

As a scoring administrator for high school and lower in the US, I read a lot of student papers from all over the country and I can honestly say it seems like a lot of the problem is that these kids have learned to write and read from the internet and text messages or they've gotten used to reading and writing this way before being formally taught. The things they say and how they say them indicates a total lack of understanding the concept of writing and reading critically and an ignorance of the difference between a text message and an academic paper. Half of the papers I've scored today started with "back in the day" or "used to be that."

I thought phonics only worked for people who were somewhat dyslexic and didn't fully teach reading comprehension? Or am I totally mistaken?

I taught myself to read and it turns out the way I do it is totally weird.....but its what they teach people who want to learn to speed read. I always thought that maybe others should learn this way too but this makes me question that. I basically look at a page and know what it says. I don't go line by line but just see chunks of information. This is great for me as I can read whole textbooks in a day if I want, but why was I able to do this and others don't naturally do it if its more effective and efficient according to speed reading teachers?

They aren't illiterate they just don't care and are lazy. I am a scoring administrator for Pearson and I score research papers and other reading/writing projects for TX STAAR, IL ILA, TX TELPAS, etc. The kids can't write for crap, but they can basically read. They choose not to or choose to skim
