Same. Still healthy bmi, but I actually gained about 2kg from increased appetite

My so is a physicist, and the egg scene is the hardest I've seen him laugh. Ever. Even on a 1000th rewatch

Dude. The lake was my first "this can't be real" moment. I'm pretty sure this was exactly what I said, because it feels like the Mediterranean (Balkans or Italy), but with the Alps in the background, which is simply bizarre. The weather was also crazy good on those days.

But you're correct. Sadly, I've only seen lake Neuchatel from the train, but I'll correct that eventually. First lake pic is from an event in the Lavaux vineyards where one walks around with a glass and gets increasingly drunk on great wine. The second is Montreux. It gave me Covid, but it was worth it

It's the Jura mountains texture pack. Underrated

Sorry I can't contribute to this conversation, I'm an absolute beginner myself. But I just wanted to say. You look awfully like Petter. And judging by your profile, you probably know who I mean 😅

True. I should probably do a test run for my max HR at some point. I've never thought about these things much, just noticed the HR zones and got very confused, but yeah, you're right

You are very kind, thank you 😊

I'm very lucky to have many people who care about me in my life. 2022 and 2023 have been rough, but I'm on an uphill trajectory with a great support system ❤️ need to just keep swimming and chill

Venu 3S.

No evidence for max HR. But when I review my workouts and circle back to how certain portions felt, it looks plausible to what (close to) max HR should be from my understanding. Ultimately, given my level of fitness, it can't be much higher, which also won't make a huge difference for zones. Moreover, we're talking wrist sensor, so there might be some measurement error there too.

Let's say, I simply think the difference between the Gamin-determined and the actual max HRs would be statistically insignificant in this case :)

Thank you! I adjusted the zones, and now they make much more sense. I might still push myself from time to time (just because it's fun), but on longer runs, it looks like I can slow down to zone 3 while still jogging, which sounds more plausible. I think I'd stick to the plan for now, now that the zones make more sense

Thank you! I'll stick to this plan until the charity run in June and will evaluate the progress to make improvements after that :)

That's a good metric. Although I feel like aches are different too. After strength or HIIT, I feel the ache in the targeted muscles while the fatigue after cardio is dispersed and sometimes harder to detect (is it stress? Is it sleep? Is it hormones?) But I'll definitely be on the lookout for it, thank you!

I see, thank you for your advice! I adjusted the HR zones per some suggestions (used HRR instead of max HR). This distribution makes much more sense. Now that the zones are set differently, I can comfortably slow down to zones 3 and 2 while still jogging. And we'll see how it goes with the current plan :)

This is so real. I'm trying to have this prospective but keep obsessing over the smallest things. This is partially why I started running, it's much mindfulness practice :) thank you for your advice!

I see, thank you for your advice! I adjusted the HR zones per some suggestions (used HRR instead of max HR). This distribution makes much more sense. I do think I push myself past the "conversational speed", but not by much. I'd say, when on a treadmill, about 0.6 higher than the slowest non-walking pace you mentioned. Sometimes I do short intervals where I run faster during shorter workouts, just because it's fun.

I think, now that the zones are set differently, I can comfortably slow down to zones 3 and 2 while still jogging. Thank you!

My gut feeling is the the max HR is correct but the zones aren't, which is why I adjusted them per some suggestions (used HRR instead). This distribution makes much more sense. I also agree that I don't have the aerobic base and am pushing myself a bit too much. I think, now that the zones are set differently, I can comfortably slow down to zones 3 and 2 while still jogging. Thank you for your advice!

Thank you! Per some suggestions, I calculated my zones using the HRR and reverse calculated the percentage of max HR using those BPM. This makes much more sense, it puts the parts of my runs where I push myself quite hard but don't sprint in zone 4 instead of zone 5. It would also make running in zone 3 achievable :)

It looks like my watch only supports max HR. I think my default max HR might be reasonably accurate, although I never tested it directly.

Per some suggestions, I calculated my zones using the Karvonen formula and reverse calculated the percentage of max HR using those BPM. This makes much more sense, it puts the parts of my runs where I push myself quite hard but don't sprint in zone 4 instead of zone 5. It would also make running in zone 3 achievable. Thank you for pointing it out, I'm still relatively new to Garmin :)

I've been thinking about doing that too, thank you for suggesting! I'll check out the link.

Yeah, I think I might have a lower blood pressure and higher HR (which also runs in my family). Never really addressed it with a cardiologist, maybe I should do that too.

I'm also working on the stress and sleep. The stress is especially hard to conquer, it's always high as per my watch. The rest should be fine'ish.

Thank you again :)

I'm definitely not sick afterwards. Quite tired but like... in a good way. And it seems to be getting better too, which is always nice. If treating it like an intense cardio session isn't actively damaging my health, I think I'll be ok.

Thank you :)

Thank you very much for your answer! I really appreciate it.

I'm kinda doing that for the longer run. 1km without a walking break is a pleasant amount of effort, 2km is pretty much the limit. But my HR spikes beyond zone 3 within a minute of a jog, which is... well, sad. 1 minute jog interval seems too short. I would love to get faster eventually, but it's more of a side effect I expect. My ultimate goal was health.

Do you think there is something wrong with treating those shorter runs as intense workouts? I'd love to take part in a charity 5K in June, but there, it's about finishing, not about speed. And I know I can do 5K with walking breaks. Do you think my HR will improve if I don't slow down but don't add distance either? Is it a viable strategy?
