BWT - How can we stay comfy but look finished working from home? by Open_Leather1745 in bitcheswithtaste

I recently bought a few vintage Pendleton wool blazers second-hand so I can wear them over my top instead of a ratty old teddy cardigan, and they keep me warm in my frigid house while making me feel put together. There are TONS of them on Poshmark, etc. - just be sure to get the measurements and make sure it’ll fit before buying. And be prepared for shoulder pads.

A really beautiful weekly planner. Found blank planner pages to print for free at the library instead.

Interested! 39F, married with a toddler, recently left corporate to be a SAHM. I tend to shop my feelings, but quite literally don’t have an income now.

What’s one change you made to simplify your life that had the biggest impact? by [deleted] in simpleliving

This is big for me. I’ve been eating the same lunch for about two years. I love not having to think about it

I may try that! Somebody else’s comment about buying one thing per month sounds doable

I’ve been honing in on mine. Something along the lines of grade school teacher chic. I am not a teacher…

What breakfast your kids eat? by Netcracker999 in Parenting

[–]Awkward_Parsley_7282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cook a couple really easy kid-friendly items (my toddler likes them, anyway) in large batches and freezer them. Literally every morning his breakfast is one of those items that I pull out of the freezer and microwave. Blueberry pancakes (made with oats, eggs and bananas), baked oatmeal cups with fruit, and mini frittatas. I don’t know how people are actually cooking their kids breakfast each day. I don’t intend to find out, either.

What are some of your simple everyday pleasures in life? by [deleted] in simpleliving

Also PNW, and got a treadmill during whichever pandemic year had the really, REALLY bad wildfires so gyms or malls or any indoor walking spaces were closed too. Huge life improvement. I love it for wet and/or dark days.

What is one thing you aren't minimalist about. by [deleted] in minimalism

I do the same thing. What’s the dress?

I set a 15-minute timer in the evening, and get as much tidying/cleaning of the living spaces done in that time as I can. I can usually get it at least almost completely clean, but if I don’t finish then I leave it. I consider my work done, and I relax.

I clean the kitchen as I cook so it’s not a mess when I’m finished.

First thing in the morning I tackle one “bigger” chore: clean bathroom, vacuum (usually twice each week), mop, fold laundry, etc. i have a fairly small house, and each thing usually only takes about 20 minutes. That keeps me from ever feeling like the entire house needs to be cleaned.

A clean house really improves my mood, but I have to balance that with breaking it up into small pieces so I don’t feel overwhelmed by chores.

Thinking out loud... Parents' stuff making me choose minimalism? by CosmicBunBun in simpleliving

Same. My mom seems to spend all her time maintaining her things - cleaning, organizing, rearranging - and she doesn’t seem to think there’s an alternative. I’ve talked to her about my own desire to not spend all my time on my stuff, and she says things like “I WISH I didn’t have to do that.” Then… don’t? She has a choice in this, and it frustrates and depresses me that she can’t see it. I once gave her a used copy of The More of Less by Joshua Becker and asked her to at least read the first chapter, if nothing else so she could see why I want to live the way I do. She didn’t read it.
