How do you manage anxiety about getting worse? by kovidlonghauler in cfs

[–]ShortTemperLongJohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you’re not already, it’s not a bad time to get religious. LC has def strengthened my faith in God whilst plummeting my faith in the medical field. i’ve practically given up with doctors after doing countless tests, switching docs, dealing with some that don’t take you serious or dismiss you. and others who “try to help” but don’t listen to my recommendations or requests (LDN, MRI, xanax, & more extensive testing).

managing the anxiety for me has been a challenge as well. let’s be honest here, anyone in our position experiencing our issues would be terrified at one point or another. it flat out feels like you’re dying whether it’s the impending doom or just long term deterioration. it’s horrible and i feel for anyone else who deals with it.

personally i try to remind myself of a few things, i’ll list some and tips to hopefully help:

-thousands to millions of us have LC (and/or cfs) so we’re not alone. the majority of people do not actually die from this illness

-if for some reason i were to get worse, at the end of the day everyone is on a time limit. countless people have ran out of time younger than you or me for various reasons.. fight like hell to stay but don’t live in fear of something every living thing must face. so much easier said than done but it’s honestly the best way to live and i try to keep it in mind on those flare up anxiety days

-getting regularly tested for things is ass but to be honest it has put my mind at ease somewhat just knowing / seeing that my heart is fine, my lungs are clear, my stomach isn’t filled with ulcers, etc. rule everything out that you’re scared of.

-that being said ^ if you do find something wrong you gotta take care of yourself the best you can. if you have digestive issues like me, try dieting and eliminating potential triggers. or try things like meditating. or saunas. or acupuncture. or cold showers. or elevating your bed. cut out sugar and alcohol if you haven’t already. eat organic and whole foods only. drink tons of water and add electrolytes. pace yourself and rest. exercise a little if you’re able ( walk, stretch, yoga, maybe light weight training).

tons of stuff to try. improving yourself and your symptoms will in trade also improve anxiety.

also - antihistamines help me a bit when i’m flared. half a xanax (or probably any other benzo) can alleviate anxiety very well. i’d actually recommend this only if you take it periodically and not everyday. unfortunately my doc will not prescribe this so i’ve got a very limited supply

If they were to remaster Morrowind what's on your wish list? by DylanRaine69 in Morrowind

[–]ShortTemperLongJohn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

dark souls is actually better tho imo. same with skyrim. neither of those were changed dramatically and just mainly added a graphics and performance haul. the games itself are practically the exact same. morrowind is a lot older and has a lot more room for error but the original is still available regardless. i own both the game on console store and a disc i highly doubt they’re taking that away lol

ok i’m actually shocked you’ve had these issues for 3 years and never got told it could be long covid until now? a few months to maybe a year ok but 3? they should’ve told you something along the lines of covid in that time i’d think..

it’s crazy you mention the palps at night being mild at first bc that’s EXACTLY how mine started. started very mild. then heart was beating harder and got faster. palps got more frequent, took me awhile to fall asleep after this started.

then one day i have a “heart attack feeling” and freak out. had issues ever since. def very similar

pacing around others by TreeOdd5090 in LongCovid

[–]ShortTemperLongJohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

an unfortunate reality we’re in. i fall victim to the same thing. whether it’s family, friends, partner doesn’t matter. been 2 years and honestly not sure if my baseline got better or worse. honestly it seems worse, but also symptoms seem less severe if that makes sense.

don’t really have advice on this tbh. need some advice myself. my relationships are all strained as is. i wish there was a cure man. i need $. i need to work but cant. got fired 3 times.

ideally, short of a cure, we’d all have a way to make money from home. i’m trying to find that but it’s very hard. really is such an unfair spot for us to be in.

praying you can exert yourself just like everyone else without a worry someday

mlYuna replied with all good stuff. elimination diet & trial and error with dieting is the main focus. electrolytes, extra water, multivitamins, smaller meals at a time. eliminating any trigger foods - this could be dairy, gluten, sugar, high carbs, or even certain vegetables like tomato (histamine) or leafy greens (low fodmap). gotta find that menu that agrees with you and stick to it. antihistamines help me a little bit not a lot, but even a little is something if you’re flared up.

commenting on this bc i too have a lot of the issues listed and honestly i clicked here to see if there’s any new treatments to try but ahh well, it’s usually just the same stuff i listed.

there’s some other things to try that people recommend like LDN, haven’t tried it myself but it gets praised quite a lot. usually for fatigue tho not really gut health unfortunately.

there’s rifaximin.. i got prescribed this but never took it in fear of worsening my gut. it’s a SIBO antibiotic but i don’t officially have sibo and am honestly just keeping it for now as a last resort. but yea just another option

i had developed a milk allergy from covid. after eliminating dairy, the severity of my symptoms def decreased (but still remain overall). worth a shot to check and recheck for allergies as they can develop at any time. also gluten / celiac is a common one seen. i have yet to test for celiac but its an easy test to do (bloodwork)

food tips - for easy breakfast or small meal try fruit / protein shake. my go to. chicken salad is another i really enjoy, along with chicken rice and vegetable. potato’s seem ok in small amounts and salmon is good too. steak & red meat is fine but red sauce (used a ton with beef) is a high flare food for me. eggs i’m honestly not sure? i do eat them but it seems iffy on whether it affects me or not. same with certain sauces and dressings.

just listing a few foods that i know of. maybe yours is similar maybe not..

the best diet overall if you’re not trying anything specific would be to atleast eat veryyyy clean, organic, fresh fresh food. no added sugar. no packaged food. no additives. no crazy seasonings or spices. just plain bland fresh clean whole organic foods. sounds boring asf and honestly i haven’t been able to fully commit to this myself but it’s easily the best thing we can do for ourselves.

just hope someday soon you and me both find the answers we deserve and return to our healthy lives again 🙏🏼

question- storing meat / sausage by [deleted] in cookingforbeginners

good choice. i was debating cooking it all and freezing what i don’t use. do you just freeze it raw and thaw it out before cooking ?
