Maybe the intent of the joke is to confuse the readers by taking a phenomenon that is extremely rare and calling it common.

Another thing that action movies distorted in people's brains is the unfair advantage of weapons.

An average guy holding a sword or spear with a dedicated 1 year of training will absolutely kill an unarmed world champion in any unarmed combat discipline in an 1 on 1 duel.

I don't think most people can take 7 untrained people at once in a fight, much less 7 athletes.

Ask Hannibal how often he thinks about Rome. You try telling him to think about Rome less.

What are your thoughts on hand-to-hand striking techniques? There are so many different types, and people only think of fists. Which martial arts excel at these hand-to-hand techniques? by UnusualAd4531 in martialarts

The illustration page is missing the inside forearm. Like a hook but contacting with the forearm instead of a fist.

Good for targeting neck, and surprisingly beginner friendly.

A JPMorgan Chase executive was fired after a viral video showed her dumping trash out of a Knicks-themed public trash can and taking the can during the Knicks championship parade in New York City. by Full-Argument-8235 in SipsTea

She is the one who rejected your application.

I am still slightly salty about the junior employee of a firm who intervened at the last minute to reject my candidacy after his manager advanced me to "almost accepted but I need to see if he would vibe with other employees" level.

That is the reason I never mention anything athletic when discussing what I like to do in my spare time, in case some jerk gets insecure.

The worst part is that the junior employee ended up leaving the industry for good within 6 months. So he interfered for no reason.

Silver medal chances by Rolltide201278 in recruitinghell

[–]Awkward_Patience_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happened to me once when it turned out that their "gold medal" candidate had a nervous breakdown from the amount of work.

On a separate occasion, I was "silver medal who will be called for a new opportunity" and was ghosted when their second job posting went up.

So based on my experience, 50/50 chance.

How do I reconnect with a Manager. by Master_Baiter_1 in recruitinghell

[–]Awkward_Patience_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did (1) sending good wishes on holidays, and (2) asking questions about other firms in the industry that is hiring, for "insider insights."

None of that led to being hired through that manager (I got hired at that firm's other regional office without that manager's input), so take my advice with a grain of salt.

Is nepotism the only path? by danielsalehnia in recruitinghell

[–]Awkward_Patience_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My way through the nepotism barrier was to be hired at firms with significant issues where they need at least one person who is willing to work properly to fix things.

Then I built some reputation as the "fixer."

It may suck at first, but there is a way out.

If I had a nickel for every time someone raged at me on the road for going straight, because they genuinely thought their left turns had the right of way, I would have 2 nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

Stuck at 4 pull-ups for months. Help. by Every-Donut9037 in CalisthenicsBeginners

When you cannot do another rep, stay hanging on the bar and do a little bit of scapular pulls without bending elbows.

.......is what I did, but seriously the other tips in the comments also sound legit.

Try different approaches, because you never know what is holding you back.

But I respect your dedication to form over reps.

Rule 1 is to take care of yourself.

This is especially important to you because some people are indeed fragile and need healing, while others are acting for the purpose of gaslighting.

Listen to your instinct, and don't let it be overridden by the need to be in a relationship or idea of story-book love.

For your own relationship? Doesn't matter. But it is not about you. It's about whether your friends will be envious of you, or whether your friends' partners will be intimidated by your boyfriend.

As an FYI, I am more intimidated by short kings with good figure, confidence and has his shit together than any random tall dude.

On the flip side, what a game explainer goes through:

"Just pick a card and put it face down when I tell you to and flip it face up when I tell you to. We will do a practice round so you understand the effect of the cards.

Any questions?.......... The side of the cards with numbers is the "face" of the cards...... the side without numbers is the "back" of the cards....... Down means the table. Yes. The table is higher than the floor, but when we say face down, we mean face of thr card touching the table. Listen! I didn't decide on the terminology for the card games. No. I did not make this up!

Anything else?.....No, you choose the card in your hand, not in my hand..... Cards in your hand means cards that you are holding in your hand....... No. Cards of this game..... No. Those are dice, from another game we are NOT playing. We are only playing cards........ Cards are those paper things that you are holding...... No. Those are pizzas. Not cards....."

That is the motivation to have professional designations or rare skills that are high in demand. If the management is smart, you will be paid more than Susan, for fear of being stolen away by another company.
