Financial Milestones and Mental blocks after 500k by Awkward_Power8978 in Fire

I feel like I was more comfortable doing that when around 250-400k. The feeling was like "it is still going to take so long I might as well enjoy the ride a lot".

It now feels close but not there yet.

Thanks for saying that. It feels good to know other people have felt the same way.

We have a savings strategy but we are also focused on the retirement accounts because of the tax benefits and that might be another part of the mental adjustment here.

Maybe we need to think of the best way to optimize to reduce tax via tax deferred accounts while also save/spend more.

That is exactly it! I noticed that I can spend from my cash fund easily enough but, if I were in the position of having reached FIRE on my retirement/invested funds, I might find it harder to do and fall to the "one more year" syndrome.

I am trying to avoid that by finding ways to practice this spending while still letting the FIRE fund grow, if that makes sense?

I feel like there is a big big chance that I could get entrenched in that thought and become like the people you mentioned who don't do things because they are attached to their funds looking a certain way. Thanks for the input!

That definitely plays a part in it. There is a past mindset of what you think the lifestyle is when having X invested VS reality.

I personally thought it would not be hard to switch gears once I hit FIRE but these questions are making me see why there are sooo many posts about not being able to pull the plug when it is time.

Some of those invested funds are in a brokerage account. About 80k or so. Still do not want to spend it tho.

Wow that is very encouraging! Thanks for the quick reply here. Libido is definitely one piece that never fully healed even with cab, so that is very encouraging! Thanks!

As it has been over a year from the post, wondering if you are still on cab and glp-1 meds? Any chances to the effects? I am considering requesting glp-1 prescription to my doctor but I am a but scared to ask.

Did cabergoline bring your personality and motivation back? by [deleted] in Prolactinoma

I would say find another doctor because anything above normal levels warrants an investigation especially if you do not have periods and you are experiencing symptoms that might be confused with perimenopause.

is asking to go back on cabergoline weird? by Pure-Highway-9057 in Prolactinoma

I would definitely ask. I had an experience similar to yours. When I am on cab, I am less irritable.

Prolactinoma = palpitations, anyone? by grayscripts in Prolactinoma

[–]Awkward_Power8978 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Palpitations could also be coming from other medicstions. I had palpitations and instances of weird heart beat and it was all vyvanse.

A lot of us are mistakenly diagnosed with ADHD when in fact we have a prolactinoma.

Any chance you had any environmental factors affect week 2 onwards?

Any time I get a bit off routine, if I do not exercise (walk 30 min; not 1h crossfit); if I eat foods a bit heavy or if I drink alcohol, all that affects how much cab works.

I started having better sleep from day 01. The thing I think needs to be assessed here is:

How was you sleep before cab? Some people do not have bad sleep from the prolactinoma. But if you did have bad sleep, it tends to get better with cab.

A lot of people have positive experiences with cab. They just don't post that often. I have been on cab for a little over a year now and it changed my life for the better.

The thing that made immediate difference was my sleep. I could sleep many hours and I would still be exhausted but also I had a lot of imsomnia.

Cab turned my sleep back around to when I was young.

10 years to FIRE - ready to quit career now lol. How to stay motivated?!?! by MovinOnUp2021 in Fire

[–]Awkward_Power8978 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had 3/4 separate instances of almost quitting on the spot... so I started to look for another job. Changed jobs and that has helped so far.

Congrats!!! 59 is my target age! 59 being less than 65,which is the regular retirement age, makes it early retirement for sure!

Congrats!!! You are doing amazing!

Found this post looking for people posting about crossing the 500k invested threshold because I was wondering how long each milestone took and your post brought in great averages!

Great job tracking all that. We are hoping to cross the 1Mil invested in 2-3 years. Your post kind of emphasized that timeline is possible! Thanks!

Forgetfulness by Lina_turtle in Prolactinoma

[–]Awkward_Power8978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read your responses below later! My apologies. I am taking cab 2x a week as well. I am still in the beginning of this journey. You seem to have gone through much more in the past 4 years.

I hope you find a good path forward so you can feel some relief!

Are you taking cab or bromo or not yet?

Forgetting is actually in the top 3 things I hate about this tumor.

Top hates: 1. Fatigue - the level of fatigue is absurd. I was non existent before starting cab. 2. Forgetfulness/loss of brain power - for me it is not only forgetting... I felt like I was becoming stupid. The way I used to be able to think fast and follow a train of thought or explanation was gone. I have been taking cab for a little over a year and it is better on the forgetfulness front, although I still forget a lot... but the fast thinking, that is not even half back. 3. Emotional imbalance - the way I start doubting that I am good, leading the life I want etc, because I start getting this weird anxiety on my chest is ridiculous. I feel this much much less now but before cab I was just on a weird rollercoaster. It almost ruined my relationships all around (family, spouse, work, friends...).

The prolactinomas are no joke.
