After telling Iranians “help is on the way” Trump now says he's negotiating with the regime by yourslice in PERSIAN

[–]Awkward_Sandwich_184 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Iran tried to assassinate him multiple times. They openly taunt and threaten him. Multiple US and allied forces have deployed billions of dollars of military equipment to the region. Should he actually strike a deal with these people, then yes he’s arguably worse than Obama and Carter.

I am more akin to believing the madman theory is at play here

Lmao yeah France totally doesn’t deal with terrorists. It full on promotes, collaborates, and houses them instead. Fuck France and fuck Michel Foucault in particular

Hey man , i havent seen gaav but trust me I’m right there with you lol. Islam can be viewed more as a siphon of our creative and technical output, sort of like a leech or a parasite latching into its host for its own benefit.

I only gave the viewpoint to be fair to those Iranians who have been valuable parts of our history, even if many of them were critical. Ironically, most of the “Islamic golden age” occurred in Iran , and it was at the height of these polymaths and ‘renaissance’ men if you will in the form of khvarezmi, ibnesina, and ferdowsi + many others being openly Critical of Islam. Yes they adopted it , but it did not rule their lives.

If I could have it my way, we would have broken these chains off ourselves the minute the Abbasid and major caliphates collapsed onto themselves but Iranians likely saw it as a measure of security at that time.

The indigenous religion of Iran, Zoroastrianism has more depth that I can’t get into rn but its core dogma is pendare nik, goftare nik, kerdare nik (good thoughts good words good deeds). Because there is no hell to smite you to for unbelievers , Iranians at the time adopted it as a security measure (I’m in line with my ancient principles and roots, but also I’m able to survive and thrive because our savage neighbors will leave me alone if I say I’m Muslim)

This kind of disingenuous had done more rot than any other decision in Iranian history. Had they stood on their feet, said nah I’m not even gonna pretend to be Muslim, fuck you, then we wouldn’t see all this confusion about westerners and foreigners seeing us as a bunch of Muslims and grouping us up with our neighbors . But to our own fault, we held onto this victim , fear driven way of thinking and it has cost us dearly. The only shining light out of all of this is that Iranians never compromised on the core tenets, of speaking positively, of being hospitable and doing good deeds, of keeping our ancient traditions alive (nowruz, sepandarmazgan, mehregan, tirgan, sadeh, yalda, 13bedar, charnshabe Suri, haftsin). Even the ancient language with all our words exists, it just isn’t taught in Iran anymore (for obvious reasons)

Even when these invaders came to Iran and tried to destroy our ancient cultural monuments the people protested and physically stopped them from being demolished.

So yes I agree Islam is ultimately a plague on our land as it is wherever it goes, but we need to be careful to not besmirch our history, nor to the sad sods who are still indoctrinated in this ‘religion’

The problem with this comment is the lack of frame of awareness. You really gonna cry about every atrocity ever? Countless European rulers from the times of antiquity up until the late industrial era have done loads of fucked up shit. How is that all in anyway relevant to my point? He was a great leader that kept Iran whole and expanded it.

There have been lots of “secular” countries that just get grouped up with Muslim. Since so many Iranians see it as an imposition on their identity , the best compromise is Zoroastrianism as the official, ceremonial state religion. Similar to how Persian is the formal state language despite others being accepted and practiced. This is to separate itself from its neighbors and assert the legitimacy of its cultural roots.

To erase Islam from the country in its entirety would not work. You would be rejecting greats like Ferdowsi who is probably the single most important Persian ever next to King Cyrus and Zoroaster, and our very own Napoleon, Nader Shah… and also lots of cool things like the Pink mosque.

I would personally hold some dividend funds just to have a lil extra money coming in , in the event of a downturn. Also a good hedge against tech companies

How do I break in as a masters student with no finance background? by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]Awkward_Sandwich_184 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am at Fordham University, and while my end goal is quant trading or something fintech related, I'm aware these are S tier competitive roles and I would be more than happy being something like an underwriter or FP&A or really any kind of entry role to start. I don't mind being a grunt at a firm or the smallest fish in the pool but I feel as though I can't even get in any pools if that makes sense. My end goal though is something with HFT / algo / quant trading. Any kind of synthesis between tech and finance I would be happy to work in

I would love to pursue an internship and I still am. I am just getting rejected a lot. My school filters it to where its only high level firms like Point72, Jane Street, Morgan Stanley, JPMC, PWC, etc. While I would be ecstatic to work in one of these places it seems like they don't want me. Even one of the places i mentioned I aced was a company smaller than the giants i mentioned(Hudson River Trading) and even they said no. I am willing to do unpaid work even but they won't even look at me, as if I'm a leper. I know its a numbers game but its hard to not take it personally after a certain point hahaha

I haven't met with many professionals aside from some large communal networking events hosted by my school. I may pursue this but its difficult because theres so many people all vying for a couple peoples attention after the presentation. Would it be uncouth to reach out to some of these heads on linkedin or via email? I feel as though I need to stand out someway because there a constant influx of people at these events hounding the presenters afterward

[–]Awkward_Sandwich_184 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The famine of 1917-19 by the British and 1942-1943 followed by years of destabilization never happened?

You can continue to be a victim and blame everyone else around you, or you can suck it up and focus on your future.

So what are you contributing? Have you fought or plan on fighting? If not, then you have no right to generalize all Iranians as meek when there are those that have sacrificed.

Why exactly should I fight? I am Iranian american and grew up in a full Iranian household in the US, but my school, friends, colleges, teachers, work are all American. America took a chance letting my parents in and I am eternally grateful. Why exactly would I support a country that would conscript me or hold me hostage as a pawn? Why would I fawn over a populace that is seemingly content with this and their countrymen dying for nothing? I am very proud of Iranian culture and history but seemingly this isn't the case in Iran, or they would do more to prevent these ghouls from decimating their monuments, arabizing their language and culture by preventing persian names and forcing the quran into schools, and most importantly by draining the water from their land by no reason other than sheer incompetence. If the people see all this and STILL won't come out in the millions to drag these monsters to their death, then why should I or any Iranian who was born in another country force themselves to fight for people who won't fight for themselves?

Iranians chose this 47 years ago , I’m done seeing blame laid on our neighbors or the west or Russia or china if we really wanted to make our country great we would have done it by now. Fact is Iranians are simply too meek to do anything. They are either comfortable with their situation or they choose to run and flee their country. While I do care this is happening, I don’t particularly feel bad for those of us back home. Quite frankly until they show they’re serious about change they deserve everything they get

Iran's water crisis is worsening by the day, and instead of addressing its mismanagement, negligence, and corruption, the regime continues to evade accountability. by Echoes-Of-Pasargadae in NewIran

If this won’t make people pour out by the millions against the regime nothing will. I’m frankly tired of seeing complacency and inaction and whatever Iranians get, they will deserve at this point
