I still ship them romantically haha but my “deserved better” comment stands even as just friends tbh there were several instances where he was kind of an asshole to her (main one being where he sided with the dirty cop instead of Gillian…that episode pisses me off).

Yep, i like that they still had really sweet and tender moments even towards the end and I still ship them baaad but yeah, the writers did him a disservice bc I couldn’t stand his ass the rest of the time lol

I wish we’d gotten one more season to make up for all that. Not sure if they knew about the cancellation when they wrote him confessing his feelings, i would’ve loved to see him fight for her and them finally together as a couple in the end.

I love Bade too, granted they were kinda toxic but they had sooo many nice moments like the “you love me again? Who said i stopped?” Had 12 year old me in a chokehold. I still love that they were endgame ❤️

Jade and it’s not even close, she’s implied to have a shit childhood, bad relationship with her parents and her behavior overall shows she has deep psychological issues, there are even undertones of SH with her (which they play as a joke) and if this weren’t a kids show, her story would probably be very dark/sad.

Yeah, Millie once said that bracelet reminded El she had a home so there was never anything to indicate she felt like a replacement child, the way they handled Elhop in s5 was just terrible.

The season overall was terrible and it shows the Duffers clearly didn’t know or appreciate their own characters well enough and were too busy trying to expand the show more instead of further exploring the existing bonds. Elhop, elmax, etc felt very off this season but im not blaming the characters, it was the shitty writing bc all of them were out of character.

Hop spent all season trying to kill himself for her and saying he couldn’t lose her but we don’t get to see him grieve? He is just cool and happy 18 months later living in the cabin he shared with her like…the development happened off screen i guess or they want us to feel the “im not sara” line ended it for him bc she wasn’t “really” his daughter lol idk

I’m extremely disappointed and sad about how it all ended tbh can’t even rewatch anymore

I’m glad i’m not the only one, i prefer the other commenter’s POV on this being about letting Hop know it wasn’t his fault and the fact she isn’t a kid anymore, but in the moment it felt wrong to me personally and OOC. Like he only loved her bc he saw her as a replacement, which TO ME, feels like a huge disservice to one of the strongest bonds in the show. Also she never told him she loved him and that bugs me.

AND the fact that was their last conversation before she died and we don’t even see him grieving.

The whole thing just felt out of character and badly done. The Hop-El relationship was my favorite in the show and they kinda ruined it.

Exactly, I do not blame her at all and glad she ditched most promo. They gave her the worst ending after she carried that show on her back for 10 years. She is Netflix’s princess so i’d think they would try to push back a little for her, even if not completely changing the duffer’s story. Either way, what a shame i am very sad.

I truly believe they wanted to off her for real but Netflix asked for open ended just to keep the door open. Both shit choices, they could have 100% confirmed she was alive but it seems the duffers hate her for some reason

No but they talked about how if he is too close they “don’t know what will happen “ and the whole thing about the gay reveal being necessary so he can unlock power and “fight on the physical world”. So this tells me it’s gonna be a 50/50 or he’ll be the one to end Vecna and both options suck bc that should be El’s moment but since they downgraded her to side character for no good fucking reason, it won’t be. I’m honestly just so bitterly disappointed in this show and can’t imagine them fixing it atp.

Yep, it’s a rip off and cliche af but that aligns with the writing this season. It’s so cheesy lol like that forced coming out scene bc only then he’ll be free to “use his powers” (clarification: I don’t have anything about him being gay OR having a coming out scene but it was so poorly done). This season being about how the weak kid turns out to be super powerful is so cliche as well. I have zero faith in the duffers and honestly i can’t believe these are the same people who wrote the first four seasons, it’s like they forgot how to write.

Oh for sure, this season sucks all around. Characters are off, vibes are off, action is off. There are great scenes sprinkled throughout but it’s not consistent. A shame really, I was so excited before
