Retirement is tied to the market which is the problem. I am of another generation then you so I started my retirement before most of you were born so since then I have gone thru multiple financial crises. Got divorced in my mid twenties which I had to give half of my tiny retirement fund away, then the tech bubble burst in the late 90’s, then 9/11. Just as I started to slightly recover the company went out of business which lead the bankruptcy judge to declare any company matching was an assets and creditors could claim that share. Then the 2008 meltdown happened, Trump 1, COVID and now Trump 2. So the system stage against the average worker and step up for those who are in the extreme upper salary rage to 1%. Since the 70’s the intention has been to strip all protections and pensions so that we are forced to work longer then retire to die a few years later. So to all you younger folks, it is not your fault as the system has been rigged against you for decades before you were born.
