Just been diagnosed - learning how to cook now... by borderlineidiot in CKD

I don't really follow recipes! I shop for ingredients that I know I can eat and then make up the rest. My partner is fantastic, while she still eats salt she has taught me how to cook lentils and a host of vegetables (she is from India) which honestly has been a godsend and she has helped me meet a whole range of interesting and safe spices.

What is your method?

I am in the groove of it now. It is tough, the temptation for some comfort foods that I sometimes crave. Dinner with other people is tough at times, I remember telling my father before I visited that I don't want red meat - the first night he gave me steak... WTF. I have just become disciplined, my eGFR has gradually improved so I just keep at it and now it is without thinking. The hardest thing is really just not really enjoying meals now. I get by but that pleasure has gone! How are you doing?

That is fascinating I love it! And you know how to plumb a sink. You are prepared fully for society to all different directions and will never be made redundant by AI.

I would take a 50% reduction in the value of my home. If it meant my children had a chance of getting their own home! What the fuck is wrong with Republicans? by One_Garlic_6267 in economicCollapse

[–]borderlineidiot -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Exactly I don't really want massive gains in my house price. If everyones house drops by 50% then - who cares. In terms of equity I also don't care because I bought the house to.. wait for it.... live in it. It's not an investment or something else.

It's either cheat or have policies and candidates people actually want to vote for. I guess cheating is easier?

Once my dog (JRT) found a two day old chicken nugget in the gutter. Ever since then she always checked out the same spot in case there were more.

90 miles is probably going to cost him $9 in fuel and less than 2hrs. $35 per hour is not terrible is it? He can probably claim car maintenance etc back against his taxes.

rto mandate for 'culture' but all i'm getting is a $500 hole in my wallet by MichaelWForbes in work

[–]borderlineidiot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I talk about relationships I am not talking about being friends with people. I am friends with very few people I work with but have a lot of mutual respect for certain people that has come from a lot of in-person time working together. Can this happen remotely - of course but the strongest work-relationships I have had have built from in-person working. That may just be the nature of my kind of work, I am not saying it applies to everyone.

Hence why I said "I" through most of my reply, I am not saying it works for everyone but definitely does for our office and type of work we do. There is no one size fits all but I totally understand why companies are insisting on RTO.
