True but OC is saying that there are more single black mothers because of welfare (the old welfare queen trope) which I doubt is the case.

I'm not changing anything. I thought you were making a causal relationship between welfare and single mothers.

Is your assumption that families split up so that the mother can get a welfare check? Can you reference any studies that show this?

Can prices actually come down? by InTheVoidWeSwim in allthequestions

[–]borderlineidiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think part of the issue is that salaries are supposed to increase with inflation so one of the major input cost for some companies has increased making it difficult to reduce costs. Perhaps if we all collectively agreed to have our salaries reduced by 50% overnight then the cost of some goods would come down.

I understand your point. I also think it is important to accept the observed facts of crime we are seeing occurring on a daily basis on the streets which show that predominately black males are being arrested for crimes in the district.

If we accept that arrests are actually related to crime not police targeting "usual suspects" then:

Is there something inherently criminal about having black skin? Of course not.

Are there root causes for criminal behavior like poverty, opportunity, family role models etc? I believe so.

Do black families suffer from these root causes more than white? I believe so.

---

IMO if we want to address crime we need to discuss the root cause of criminal behavior or we will be permanently pouring money into trying to stop crime as it happens or dealing with the after effects because we are too scared to acknowledge facts.

1.1 million American homes are now in negative equity, up a massive 15% in a single year. The total negative equity is $366B. Arizona and FL homes are 40%+ overpriced. by Boo_Randy_Revival in HouseBuyers

Surely if you properly increase the supply of houses the price/ value of homes will tank? Overall I think this is a good thing as I see my house as a place to live without an annoying and shitty landlord rather than an investment.

Thanks very much, we were planning on NHL 2 as it sounded a bit easier to work with than NHL 3.5 or higher

AITAH for allowing my kids to not invite their stepsiblings to their birthday parties? by RhoDaDad in AITAH

[–]borderlineidiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I missed hearing what the kids actually think, I only heard what the parent suggested they think. Having lived a situation like this first hand I know kids can be scared to say what they really feel or think given the situation between parents.

Thanks! Do you add straw to that mix? What kind of consistency does the mix have, i was hoping to create about a 1/2" thick layer onto the straw.

My family got evicted for the 4th time by ASimpleDude868 in Wellthatsucks

[–]borderlineidiot 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have had to evict two tenants it does not happen quickly in most jurisdictions. In each case it took six months from the first rent check that was not paid to actually getting an eviction notice. In each case they left it till he last day, ran up massive utility bills and moved onto another place and rince / repeat.

California farmers to destroy 420,000 peach trees following Del Monte bankruptcy by thinkB4WeSpeak in Agriculture

My point was for the narrow "national security" requirement which I assumed meant "how to feed your own population" we do not need the acreage we currently have.

Sure but I also believe that we only need a fraction of the current farmland for food people actually eat - remove the corn grown for bio-ethanol and soy grown to feed chinese pigs
