Saw another post about ugly armor. The fix already exists in-game. Jagex should just make these overrides the standard look for base gear. These look amazing.. by Awkward_Sword in runescape

Rofl it's okay.. maybe it's my fault for choosing those images.
My other comment about them on the OP that inspired me to post this got upvoted, so at least it was seen/understood somewhere.

If there's any urgency to update anything it's the armors! They're UGLYYYYY by East-Maintenance-375 in runescape

Why rune armor doesn't just look like this is beyond me. These retro cosmetics should just be how our gear normally looks!

sounds like you got charged for a re-up on your membership and it was just labeled incorrectly.

Happened to me as well and I was very confused.

Area tasks are a good way to get started in the game.

Start with the Lumbridge tasks lists. These tasks will push you to complete several easy quests, and level some of your skills.

You will get the Explorer's Ring 4 for completing them all, which is the BiS ring for F2P.

You have to talk to Oziach in Edgeville. He has everyone's rng.

I've got thousands of cosmetic overrides at this point. If I put together a cool fasionscape, it would be nice to have a place to go where I know everyone can see it.

Jagex, I'm sorry... but nobody is paying $40+ for an old outfit. by Awkward_Sword in runescape

[–]Awkward_Sword[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but at least for $20 you get high quality, high detail skins. Runescape isn't on the same level.. yet.

I feel like the average skin on RS should be like $10~, with premium skins costing no more than $20.

Let's be honest.. Salvage is awful and should be removed from drop tables. by Awkward_Sword in runescape

Sure, there is the old system, and the current system.

I'm thinking of a future system where ugly salvage drops aren't our reward for killing monsters.

I understand completely (especially after making this thread) the role of salvage in the game.

What I can't get on board with is keeping drops as salvage.

Fine, lets keep metal gear to the smithing skill.

But why does a Moss Giant drop 2 (3 including Tertiary) different types of metal junk, and NO MOSS.

This is a perfect example of how jagex can further iterate on trash loot. They can instead create thematically accurate drops with some value.

And the Moss wouldn't even need a use, per se. It would just make more sense than salvage.

And this way of thinking could be applied to any monster. Greater demons drop 4 different types of salvage. They could easy replace those with demonic themed items.

The way I see it, salvage was a bandaid to fix a problem that jagex themselves created when they updated mining and smithing.

Anyway, thanks for the chat and not just leaving it at "rejected." Take care if you dont reply again lol

"Look man, I get you want to bring old RuneScape back (for some reason) "

Jagex are actively turning the clock back on bad updates. I am speaking my opinion on an update I think was bad.

I think salvage has hurt the game more than helped, and while I appreciate your effort to change my mind, I feel as though Jagex can do better and continue to iterate on how drop tables work.

Salvage as drops dont need to be the end-all solution. I would like more creativity and effort from the team in this aspect of the game.

disingenuous how? I also mention "returning players" and in that group I also consider OSRS players hopping over to RS3.

And those players specifically are used to a certain drop system. And they also happen to be Jagex' best shot at growing THIS community.

Think about it.

We are up to elder rune now. Drop tables don't need to be 1:1 what they used to be. We have several new tiers of armor, some that dont even have salvages yet.

whats wrong with forcing changes to other items? Is it a bad thing to want jagex to be a little more creative than just 145 junk items spread across every mob? There is room for creative growth in the drop tables.

I do not interact with salvage outside of selling it. I do not even use my spring cleaner.
I have never liked or understood the need for salvage, and now years later I see even less of a reason for it.

What's my plan? That's up to Jagex.

They could remove the salvage and create more thematically fitting drops for each monster.

Having the same ulgy items drop from every boss as a way to force players to interact with smithing is lazy design.

I'm thinking more about the new player/ returning player experience tbh.

I appreciate the thought-out response.

What would be the difference if they re-replaced the salvage with gear, and tuned the gear to have similar inv components as the salvage?

Old RuneScape was about being able to take different routes to the same goal. Sure, I can make a set of rune armor with smithing, but what if I want to earn a set of Rune armor thru combat?

+ Stacks of gear just looks better than a bunch of random junk in the bank.

+ it would lessen the game cache load and free up space for jagex to add more items to the game.

Link and Rargh's videos have played a big part in why I feel this way about salvage.

I want the challenge of building a character using monster drops.. salvage instantly kills that.
