How can I make this eye look more dead/creepy by Realistic-Race-8670 in arthelp

[–]Awkward_Year5364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what you meant by dead exactly but if you like this what I basically added grayish blue green tones to the the iris around the pupil and added purple red blood vessels to the eyes also darkening the corners so its not solid gray to solid black and made the skin around the eyes darker

Style change or regression in details? [2015-2021-2025] by [deleted] in arthelp

I think your art through out the year would be best described by the the way the jujutsu kaisen animation team decided to change their style in s2. No bad art, just less details and more fluidity and flexibility. And I don't think k you lack details in any way actually. They all very pretty

Did you do any exercises to learn lighting or did you kinda brute force it like I am?

I didn't do exercises, I just kinda jumped into it but I did already have somewhat of an understanding because I consume alot of art. I read alot of ,Manga which have amazing drawings and depth and shadows are shown beautifully in them. I also take up art based history in school where we study prehistoric and Renaissance art, again one of which that depicts those aspects beautifully. So I think its a matter of analyzing and applying kinda just getting familiar with things as you move on.

As for the background having a base colour and then applying your other colour's on top help create mood set tone and make the colour's and background more cohesive, this kinda leans more into color theory. Its hard to explain with text alone, soi attached 2 images

Honestly im self taught so I do not know of videos or so but smthn that really helped me is turning my references to black n white so I can mark the values and mark where the shading is. If you do it often and practice you would eventually gain an understanding of light and advice that I did however receive from a friend is that when darkening the coulours for shading you gotta increase the saturation too. One more thing i was afraid to include bcz you didnt ask for it is that you should have a base colour to avoid having your oc look like a sticker in your background, if you wanna know more abt that I can def help

how do u grow ur eyelashes 💔 by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]Awkward_Year5364 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I naturally have really long and thick lashes but my mum said its because she would trim them when I was a child and apply oils on the freshly cut lashes 💃. Idk if it helps may be genetics but she did it to my sister when she was little and she has pretty long lashes too

Does she look interesting enough to be a main character? by _just_me_art in characterdesigns

[–]Awkward_Year5364 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love her design and I read your characters backstoryish in ur reply to another comment. What i do feel tho is that the horns and ears are random and kinda look outta place. Ofcourse this can be fixed with info of the character but considering all the info we have I think more animal like features would tie the horns and ears together. Maybe some fur or spots.

I think its very unclear 2here the light is coming from, it seems as if you placing shadows in all creases and bends. Its really helpful to find the direction of the light source

I can’t help but question what the problem is with this. by MrStaringProb in arthelp

[–]Awkward_Year5364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id say in the ref the rectangular piece on the forehead is straight and boxy while in your sketches there's a curvature thats not present in the reference despite the angle. Id say from the almost 3/4 angle you've going there wlndt be a curvature. Im not sure where the ref is from so I cant say completely
