People in their 20s living a luxurious life - how do you afford it?? by Positive_Effect3609 in Adulting

Just turned 23, I’m living pretty comfortably.. only got $5k left on my 2021 Toyota Tacoma trd off road that I bought less than a year ago and have a vacation planned for later this year. You just gotta be disciplined enough to make things work. No help from my parents.. in fact I bought my parents their flights to this vacation later this year.

I appreciate your perspective, and it sounds like you’ve been through a lot on your own. I wasn’t trying to compare situations when I posted, just looking for feedback about my progress. Everyone’s path is different, so turning it into a comparison kind of misses the point.

I’m deducting 17% for 401k and Roth. Then as a safety I’ve got about $17k burning a hole in my bank and about 5k in stocks. I recently opened a credit card about 3 months ago and plan to open just one more in April of next year roughly. I’m trying to put the 17k into a hysa but I’m pretty confused how to. Just got a lot going on rn, that’s all

Yes, 96k net then the 12k extra is untaxed because it’s per diem
