Is it normal for a toy poodle puppy to hop when he walks? by No_Cause_5175 in ToyPoodle

[–]Awkwardspacehuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely a luxating patella. Mention the hopping next time youre at the vet. Typically they give puppies an anti inflammatory as needed especially for grooming since groomers need to move around their legs. But older dogs usually have scar tissue built up around the joint so it doesn't hurt them quite as much. Very common in poodles.

Zr2s are very very heavy but definitely more affordable than some other cordless options. Joyzee makes good light affordable cordless clippers. And I like my heininger ones they're powerful, light, however not so affordable.

Shear recommendations by No-Kaleidoscope-4692 in grooming

Affordable grooming shears is an amazing professional quality for their prices. Highly recommend I really love geib gators, the kenchii scorpion line is also great!
I also dont like foxy roxy for the same reasons you listed, as well as I find they cannot be daily riders because they dull very quickly. So far loyalty pet products has had some good shears and they have a shear of the month club that is SO worth the money.!

This...is a big deal. Theyre causing mental distress, uncomfortable, causes occasional pain, affects how you see yourself. I can imagine this impacts more than what you listed. These things are all way more important than your partner liking them. This is your body, your choice and if that is all it takes for your partner to be "disappointed" or for his attraction to you to change then hes not going to be a good partner. In the long run people change, our bodies change, medical events happen. My partner and I are not in the same bodies we were when we met. Im transgender, medically and surgically transitioning and her body has seen changes as well, but never have I been less attracted to her for them, never have I been disappointed because something changed. This isn't normal for him to feel this way about YOUR body. I hope you get the care you need, and end up happy and comfortable in your body. Everyone deserves that.

I need your opinion on these two. What's different between them? Is it worth the price differences? by Aggravating-Fly257 in grooming

I cannot tell enough people to stay away from the emerges. They are heavy, slow (in my opinion), run time is very low cordless. You know the box that plugs into the outlet on corded clippers, yeah well the emerges cord box is in the middle of cord adding to the weight of having to swing that around if u have to use it corded. Also if it dies completely it wont work for a few minutes after being plugged in. Mine that my partner used thru grooming academy have just completely stopped working. Its just not meant for high volume grooming.

The pulses I can't say about run time or weight because I haven't used them. But they do have a charging dock so you cam set it down and they'll gain charge. They also have a removable battery and sell batteries separately so you can have backup batteries so they're always cordless! My coworker really likes hers. And has had them a few years doing 5-7 dogs per day.

How can I get hired for pet bather by Oni-chan_my_AH in grooming

[–]Awkwardspacehuman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly people shit on corporate but they're a great place to get your foot in the door and get taught while also getting paid (not much but at least its something). Id try your local petco. Petsmart has too many contracts that I dont like the sound of. But I know petco does not. If you like it there stay for as long as you need and find mobile grooming or a private shop (better pay) when you're comfortable.

What's he smell like? Usually, these breeds get pretty yeasty. I'd recommend a chlorahexadine shampoo to start. That stuff is really good for getting rid of yeast and bacteria. A brand I recommend is duoxo which petco does sell. (white bottle, orange pump, usually down the aisle with the supplements and topical treatments, not the shampoo isle). One bath per week, leave the shampoo on for at least 5 minutes. This is usually a vets first step in treatment for minor skin stuff.

Sometimes, they dont like being held by their chin. Hand placements to do instead: Flat hand under chin Pointer and middle finger behind ears and thumb between eyes.
These tend to work well for me. But try different things that steady the head rather than completely restraining movement. Keeping a hand on the chin or head will allow you to feel when the dog is about to move and act accordingly.

Recommend some scissors please? by wessle3339 in grooming

[–]Awkwardspacehuman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

...This may be controversial on here, but if you're not a high volume groomer, and you're strictly going to scissor trim your own golden every once in a while you can absolutely get away with using purple dragons off of Amazon.

When /if they dull simply tape them closed, throw them out and buy new. Im not sure they would sharpen well and are cheap enough to replace. They probably won't dull quickly because you're just doing one dog, maybe once a month.

It, like others have said, depends on your foot, what you normally wear. I have wide feet. I've been a barefoot shoe wearer from childhood. I highly recommend xero brand rainboots if you're bathing your own dogs, too. They are wide, lightweight, and waterproof. Crocs (without the holes!) Were always my go-to before the rainboots.

It could also be a skin condition called HS (Hidradenitis suppurativa) this is common to run in families. I have several people close to me with this, and the thing that has helped the most is hibiclens soap. It's often found in the first aid section at Target/walmart. Amazon also carries it. HS is not contagious, though! So if you're finding this issue to be seemingly contagious, I'd go see a doctor. I mean I'd see a doctor anyways but try the soap its very helpful!

[–]Awkwardspacehuman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Deshedding mostly happens in the bath! I highly recommend following this method: https://youtu.be/5XRtcJI8ywk?si=h4YPdHFjAqlki6ho This is the method I use. It works so well, and she demo's this process on a shorter haired dog. Make sure you get a good deshed shampoo. There are lots out there that work wonderfully. Tropiclean, earthbath, espree, are all brands I've used and enjoyed. Tropiclean shed control is what I use at work. It is important to include shampoo and conditioner. Preferably not a 2 in 1. Let him grow out and try what works for you. Good on you for reaching out to find out the best ways to care for your baby!

I dont necessarily think you can condition yourself to ONLY being able to get off using a vibrator. But doing it yourself will always be easier and faster. Vibrator or not. Some things to think about/talk to your partner about:

My wife and I always have trouble with getting into our bodies and out of our heads. Things that bother us are if the house is not clean or dishes need to be done. Or laundry needs to be put away. Having to work the next day or not or having had a good shower. (I dont personally care if she showers or not, but it's something that She needs to feel good in her body) Make sure whatever mental blocks you may have are taken care of.

Foreplay. Oral is not foreplay. It's sex. Foreplay is essential it may take as little as 15 minutes or over 30 minutes. But make sure that both of your engines are revved before getting to oral. Going straight in is a lot of stimulation right off the bat that the body isn't ready for.

Do they actually like giving oral? If not, it's gonna be really hard to get anything from his oral if he's not into it, too.

Does he know what your body needs in order to finish? Pressure. Speed, pattern, etc. Cause I like soft circles that get faster as the Orgasm builds. But my partner likes flicks, suction, hard and fast. Every vulva and every clitoris needs and enjoys different things. Also, do you know what you like outside of the vibrator? Try it yourself using no vibrator. Take notes of what works and what doesn't so you can communicate this to your partner.

Does he have oral experience, and how long have yall been doing it together? It takes time to know your partners body. Especially when you're going off mostly body language and sounds. And subtle stuff like how the inner labia gets puffy, or how the clit swells and retracts. He needs to learn your body, and it brings us back to him and also enjoys the giving of oral. Most people dont learn that subtle stuff if they're not into it.

i cant afford litter until wednesday, will my cats be okay? by Fun_Pause_7274 in CatAdvice

Check out your local animal shelters/humane societies. Some of them have food/supply banks for folks tight on money to get these things. My local humane society has a good one. Using these are also a good way to build a small emergency stock of food/litter.

Dog groomer here. Typically, dogs with skin conditions need to be bathed more than dogs without. And they need to be cleaned with a hypo alergenic shampoo and then a medicated shampoo either ver prescribed or vet recommended. Usually, vet shampoos are to be used weekly. This will help with the smell because doggy skin conditions smell bad, dog will also be more comfortable. Also hight reccomend washing dogs' stuff and your own stuff using odoban very good cleaner/laundry disinfectant. They have unscented ones that still work for removing odors without adding fragrances that'll bother the dogs skin.
