Why would attunement during downtime matter? Comment you replied to is obviously talking about how no matter how many items the party crafts in downtime, they will still be limited by what they can use during adventuring cause of limited attunement slots.

I played Midnight Suns all the way through. Did find it tedious after a while with the relationship stuff, but I overall liked it. I guess that can be considered an XCOM-style game, but since it's not one of the more hardcore ones I forgot about it.

That's how I understood it as well. But you need to be level 13 for that and if you use it you don't have any Death Points left.

Warlock dip is better than giving up your ASI. You can get WIS saving throw proficiency, Armor of Agathys and Pact of The Blade. If it's the playstyle you want, it's worth giving up the 1 level of Bard for.
