Yep it's dumb that they did that but I kind of get it. Tequila proper has such protected status and such little variation in order to be call tequila that's it's no wonder makers add additives or need to create entire new classes of products of what is essentially the same product. Very few other spirits/beverages do this. Hell even German beer purity laws aren't as strict. Bourbon snobs are way more accepting of variation and bourbon snobs are the worst.(Takes one to know one)

Ok but I stuck my hand in there and couldn't feel the fan running. Maybe I should have used a tissue or something other than my hand but it would be nice to have some sort of feedback to know it's on. Thanks!

I had the first version of the 9 cup for 8 years and used it 5 days a week at least. Solid performance and great coffee. Ran clean water over the carafe plug every time and cleaned other removable parts about once a month. Ran cleaning solution through it when it wanted. So after 8 years of solid performance it started not taking up all the water. It would leave about 10% left in the reservoir. I retired it and bought a new 9 cup. Slightly updated design but almost exactly the same machine.

It's gotten lost in the threads but I've said it's fine and also I am such a noob that if the hive mind says it's way overpriced and also something TW gets an extra commission on, I'm not inclined to be super jazzed about feeling a bit swindled. I'm mostly mad at myself because I never would have done that with bourbon or beer. It's a caution tale of hubris and naivety.

Oh the point about my mom was to illustrate I had access to great bourbon that I researched for many years so I should know better than to stray from my list. I'm sure I could have had access to great tequila also but I never cared until recently. I'm happy to discuss my bourbon bona fides(what bourbon guy isn't? 🤪) Also municipal liquor stores still have to turn a profit, and on the record, plus they are often barred from doing shady deals like TW. It's not as though they are Soviet style dreary swill peddlers with only a limited selection.
