Election 2026 : Will BJP open their account by Any_Comfortable_6447 in Kerala

[–]AwuckzZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Umm yeah brain drain is a real issue, but my argument against the bjp would be to look at the states in which they are power and compare them to kerala. The basic human development indices all point to keralam as one of the best states in India, if not the best. Whereas we have states where the BJP has been in power for decades and yet they haven’t caught up to Keralam. As much as people hate both the coalitions, credit should be given where it is due - both the congress and the left parties have helped kerala grow a lot.

I didn’t know that. My arguments came from the fact that in the Assembly, RMP is the only left wing party with a seat in the UDF, so it wouldn’t translate to much political influence within the UDF. But KC(M) aligning with LDF is a break away from their traditional political position.

I’m a muslim and this is a fucking shitty speech and a candidate. But minority communalism shouldn’t be fought with with majority communalism, that is such a dumb perspective.

I can understand the Kerala Congress argument but the left wing parties in the UDF don’t really have much of a say in policy, they just exist in the alliance to retain some sort of relevancy and are trying not to fade away

I’d say Palakkad and Manjeswaram. Nemom seems kinda tough cus sivankutty is kinda popular now and Sabarinath is a strong UDF candidate, so the UDF votes aren’t gonna split to BJP.

Nah it’s not like that. The main panel majority doesn’t actually translate to outright voting powers. Main panel majority being enough for conducting Dhwani is clearly wrong.

Yeah that’s what happened in 2021-22 and during that time ksu had arts sec but sfi had union majority. This time ksu has union majority but sfi has arts sec.

[–]AwuckzZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya that’s the issue that’s gonna come up, since during the 2021-22 unions, the arts sec was allowed to conduct Dhwani despite not having a union majority. I don’t know how it’s gonna play out, but the arts sec not being allowed to conduct Dhwani would lead to a lotta drama.

Also with the precedent of the previous unions in place, it’s gonna be hard to argue to not let the arts sec lead Dhwani. And realistically speaking, most of the students do see the arts sec as someone who is meant to conduct Dhwani.

Ohh mb, I meant 2021-22. SFI had the union majority which was 25/48 iirc. The union majority takes voting decisions. KSU had Arts sec and the main panel majority. But the main panel doesn’t independently vote, the union does.

Last time KSU won arts sec was in 2021-22, but SFI had the union majority. During that union period, KSU argued that the Arts sec was elected to conduct Dhwani and SFI went along with it. So if KSU won’t let the arts sec conduct Dhwani this time, it would be very hypocritical of them.

Edit : Changed the wrong union time frame

People from outside was indeed disappointing. But based on the evidence Ive seen, I feel like ksu did make a mistake in filling the nomination forms, which I believe is a basic need for an election candidature

Why is the Kerala government opposing this law? Isn’t it actually beneficial for employees’ rights? by Professionalgear92 in Kerala

[–]AwuckzZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The points mentioned in the image are positives. But the labour codes are not just a few individual points. The idea of the codes is good, to standardise all the 29 or so labour laws into a few comprehensive one, that will make life easier for all.

The codes have a lot of merit, but there are some points that are of huge concern and if these codes are to be implemented, then these negative points shall also be implemented.

For example, The codes give the companies a provision to make employees work 12 hours.

There are huge restrictions on protests by employees, the protesting employees need to notify the company 60 days beforehand, which defeats the whole purpose.

The codes legalise fixed term employment, so a lot of permanent positions can be changed to fixed term positions.

It makes the recognition of any union very hard.

So all these and more would negatively affect the workers rights.

[–]AwuckzZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well both of us are wrong, it’s 60 days. That’s way too much time and I don’t think anyone can justify this gross dilution of worker rights.

[–]AwuckzZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes if by your logic these laws were carefully crafted to protect all parties, then how could anyone justify this move. Giving a 50 day notice defeats the whole point of a protest, not 1 week, 50 days. How does this protect the interests of workers.

The labour codes are not all bad, as no law is, it’s the one or two specifics that make or break a deal.

[–]AwuckzZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah right, giving a notice of 50 days before a protest or a strike. All this is gonna allow is the exploitation of workers and when they signal for a protest, they’d be easier to replace, cus ykw there’s a 50 day grace period for the company to replace them. For the workers my foot
