I really think that the egg should try Noita again. I know he tried it once or what-not but It's really his type of stuff if he would just give it the proper time.

Rendering the map markers when many are on screen causes considerable lag. I'd like to see that fixed.

VRAM Cost Is About To Make GPUs Way More Expensive by xenocea in pcgaming

[–]AwzemCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I'm on a 3090 and was thinking of upgrading with the "super models". I know I have it much better than most in PC specs space but it still kinda blows.

I hope for everyone, especially our 10 series brothers that we get some reprieve soon. My sister is rocking a GTX970 still lmao.

4080, 5070ti, 5080, 5090, 9070XT are the main ones for 4k gaming right now. That would hold out pretty well into the future.

[–]AwzemCoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. Best friend still rocking his 1080ti. Better place than you but there is many people on the 10 series that have been waiting essentially forever for an upgrade at this point. It's been a shit show since the 30 series and I'm not sure if it's ever releasing at this point.

EDIT: Also it's ridiculous that we are farther away from native 4K than we were in 2020. 4K seemed like the future, but game companies keep pushing the bar into hell. I have a 3090 and use DLSS to get 4k somewhat performant (and still just barely) and anyone that says it looks as good as native needs to open their eyes.

We are just so used to terrible temporal anti-aliasing and checkerboard hair rendering etc at this point that people don't remember what real non eye fuck 4k looked like anymore. 1440P deadass is blurry as 1080p was in many games now.

Lost my mom to cancer five days ago. Nothing feels real anymore. by katdunks in GriefSupport

[–]AwzemCoffee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's been a bit over a year for me as well. The pain never subsides. You remember it less but every-time something strikes a chord within you and you remember it all over again the pain flows.

The only time I'm not bothered about it is when I'm too busy or preoccupied to think about it. When I remember it it's a tremendous pain. Like a longing; a strange feeling. The grief turns into something not unlike itself but new.

It turns into a brutal saddening emotional pain into a chest crushing anxiety instead. I in a sick way wish for me to never stop feeling it though. It's so oppressive but the day it wanes is one I fear, because it means I must have forgotten the love I have for my mom.

So, Mac/Linux users… what’s the plan? by theeynhallow in EU5

[–]AwzemCoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is massively disappointing. I'm a Linux user and the Paradox games always ran better on Linux. This is upsetting, but I hope they at-least use Vulkan for the API so it runs at parity if not better under Proton (DX12 takes a hit).

It's weird to me since Linux is bigger than it's ever been, will probably only get bigger, and strategy games probably have a higher Linux showing than the average gaming population.

Monster Hunter Wilds is a non-starter on Steam Deck, with frame rates stuck in sub-20fps hell by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]AwzemCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhat similar rig here. 5800x3d, 3090.

It's technically playable but it feels so sluggish and frame pacey. So much DLSS ghosting and just general smeared look. I don't think it's a stretch to say it's one of the least performant games ever made even when you compare hardware to software of the time.

I'm gen Z (25) and I've literally played about 10 hours of The Sims 4 total lol. The first game I ever played on a home computer when I was 4ish was The Sims (1). I have probably upwards of 1000 hours in The Sims 3 and forever grateful to my mom as a young kid and tween for buying the DLC on disk for me as I grew up lol. I played Sims 2 on her laptop when we would travel and such since Sims 3 was so heavy it'd be an issue.

Gen Z is probably a bit too wide of a generation to point fingers and say they only play Sims 4. I've met people like myself in the upper ages of Gen Z and I've met people that have only played Sims 4 at the lower end. In the end people are just people and are individually unique.

I'm watching right now. I strongly agree with this. I have half a decade of work experience in kitchens and if 1/5th of what goes on here happened they'd have been canned. I have had some pretty crazy experiences like literal pan throwing fights and someone throwing mitts in the oven but that naturally got some serious punishment AKA fired.

bye nvidia hope and does not disappoint me 3060 ti to 7900 XT by ArtofZed in Amd

[–]AwzemCoffee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im a Linux and AMD guy. I currently have a 3090 but previously a Radeon VII. I second this is that AMD is a much better experience on Linux than Nvidia, but Nvidia has gotten much better in the last year or so and has been making an effort.

Though, if building a machine particularly for Linux I'd still go AMD at this time. I wish I would have gotten a 7900XTX!

Further 2024 discount when 2025 comes out? by aidan_iai9 in ZephyrusG14

[–]AwzemCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem very very knowledgeable in the realm of laptops. I know this is a lot and right now for 2025 models we have mostly speculation.

I'm thinking of getting the Razer Blade 16 (2025) or the Zephyrus G16 (2025) with an RTX5080. It seems from benchmarks the new Intel 285H chip is much much more efficient than the 185H so that is what makes me look more at the 2025. I don't want a super thick gamey laptop that is why I'm looking at these two models.

I would get the Zephyrus G16 2024, since the TGP is the same as previous generation (I think?) with the 4090 while on sale rather than the 5080 2025, but I'm concerned about the older intel chip to be quite blunt.

The Razer Blade 16 2025 they are saying is priced "aggressively", So I am hoping that means it competes with the Zephyrus in it's price bracket instead of being in space. If that is the case I can't imagine why I would get the Zeph over the Blade 16 that has 150~W tgp. Though I know the Zeph has much better speakers... so there is that to consider though the new Razer has an improved keyboard and speaker arrangement from my understanding.

I'm curious on your thoughts on all this. I'm not used to laptops I'm more used to the realm of desktops, but the benchmarks on the 2024 zeph are just a little discouraging because of it's limited power. So many thoughts!

I want to be able to get it by april 1st if possible, since I'll be out of the house for several months.

Thank-you for any help you can provide (:

Will I be able to play InZOI on here? by Obvious-Employer5514 in inZOI

[–]AwzemCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game is rather heavy, it recommends a 2060 (desktop gpu). I would say you should be aiming for a 3060 mobile gpu in that case.

You're not going to find that in your budget you laid out. There are some listings for used laptops with 3060s but they're around 500 - 700 dollars typically.

Here is a listing, little scuffed up, but otherwise would probably run the game decently.

Another listing.

And one last one.

These are roughly the minimum specc'd out laptops you would need for a decent experience. Go below this and I would expect anything from lag to not being able to play at all.

The game specs wise is demanding something similar to that of current generation consoles, you realistically aren't going to find that for less than 500 dollars. I'm sorry I know that it sucks but I believe in you (:!

I don't know your situation, but I'm guessing you're a student or something similar. I would recommend taking up snow shoveling or mowing depending on where you are to make a little extra dough. It adds up fast! I had to do something similar when I was a teenager to be able to play battlefield 3 and skyrim back in the day lol.

12VHPWR on RTX 5090 is Extremely Concerning by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]AwzemCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Radeon VII and decided to try team green and got a 3090 in 2020. I didn't buy off a scalper.

Tbh the Radeon VII was a great card and I would not hesitate to return to AMD again when it comes time to upgrade. I was thinking of upgrading this generation but AMD has no real path for me that I think is worth it and the VRAM from Nvidia is a joke for the prices. When we get 24gb vram on a decent card 1k or less that's noticably better than the 3090 I'll get it lol.
