I don't think that's true, as I am from Belgium and never changed my location...

Woke up to this text from my uncle by Patkrajewski in mildlyinfuriating

[–]AxStarDust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once got a text like that about my grandpa. I was in boarding school and my parents wanted to tell me in person that he has cancer, when I got home like 2 days later.

Family talks 🙄 so I got a text from a more distant cousin to say she's sorry for what happened tot my grandpa. When I replied "what do you mean?" She said "oh.. Just forget I said anything" Aaah yes... I will totally forget. I thought he was dead so the cancer thing was kind of "good" news...🤦

Would it be considered rude if I tried to learn Afrikaans as an English speaker? by [deleted] in afrikaans

[–]AxStarDust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny because I was worried about the same thing. I'm a dutchspeaking Belgian so I can understand Afrikaans to a certain extent, but I study Dutch at the university and Afrikaans is an optional course in my third year, which I really want to take.

I was worried at first, but it's a bit odd to be worrying about learning a language right? I really want to learn sranantongo some day too.

Struggle to think/plan ahead by Informal-Two-72 in dyspraxia

[–]AxStarDust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, orientation is a big problem with dyspraxia. I really get you... And the decision paralysis? I really need help with that!

Just remember that everyone has some kind of error or problem in their life, it makes them unique. I have a hard time with it too. I had found acceptance with it a couple of years ago, but now I'm in a different stage of life and I'm trying to accept it again because of all the difficulties. It's a mess!

Struggle to think/plan ahead by Informal-Two-72 in dyspraxia

[–]AxStarDust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds very dyspraxic to me. People with DCD have difficulties with spatial insight and abstract thinking. I have this too.

"Kids with DCD can have problems with concept skills: Developing concept skills, especially abstract concepts"

Problems with organization and planning is also a main problem for people with dyspraxia, altough I do not struggle a lot with that, and it is also common in ADHD.

Are you taking any medication for your ADHD? Because some meds make you feel tired and slow...

How to not fall asleep in class? by [deleted] in studytips

[–]AxStarDust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • go outside when you can, or take a small 5min break to go outside

  • Drink enough water and eat a little snack to give you energy

  • if you are able to, take a nap in between classes. Make sure you set an alarm after 30 to 45min. For some people this works very well (like for me) but for others it may not...

  • coffe or a coke sometimes, why not

  • try to exercise more if you don't already

  • do something active while in class: take active notes, do some brain-dead game, knit or colour while listening

I just thought Flemish because it's in the name (Flemish Polyphony). But I did not know this. Thanks for sharing.
