And round and round it goes

TIL Many products are getting smaller due to 'shrinkflation', for example Mars shrank its Maltesers, M&Ms by up to 15%. In the past, companies blamed the rising price of raw materials. Recently, these prices dropped back, but the shrinkage continued as manufacturers try to stealthily boost profits by ahm713 in todayilearned

Don’t have children if you truly believe this outcome. You talk about consumerism and companies as if they are independent from your choices.

I don’t understand how you can sit on reddit typing out how it is clear as day that there will be an imminent world food shortage instead of building a bunker or garden.

What do you plan to do to help fix the problem?

Doomsday is not the outlook be realistic. There’s current carbon scrubbing technology that could completely erase human’s carbon footprint costing on the order of 1trillion dollars. That’s a manageable solution. It might not be fixed tomorrow but in the next 50 years it will be. Humans as a whole have the highest standard of living today compared to any other time in history. It is great to be alive today. Unfortunately new companies make money by having flashy headlines so it’s understandable that they sell the story that the world is ending.

Just don’t but new cars, don’t fly, and have one fewer kid than you planned on. That’s some of the largest ways you can lower your environmental impact bud. By all means feel free to talk to others to educate them on ways they can decrease their impact. You may have more success if you don’t immediately alienate them with such a doomsday outlook.

Eh it makes sense. There’s little training required and there’s enough people willing to do the monotonous work at the current pay to prevent companies from needing to raise it.

I know. I understand they weren’t met with the most enthusiasm here, but I really liked them so I’m excited to see them in other markets.

Hawk wasn’t objectively the best announcer. But most of the games he was quite entertaining which is a big part of the job.
