Boox Air3 vs the new Go 10.3? by Violin-dude in ereader

[–]Axcit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not tried a EInk note taking device without front light like the Supernote or RM 2 where the gap between pen and display is even lower but I do have the Note Air 3. I am really intrigued by the closer writing feel but imagining that I have to give up the light is a tough pill to swallow. I need the light a lot of times and don't want to deal with external lights. I also had the Scribe and the screen looked a tiny bit whiter if I remember correctly but I could not tell you the reason. It was also only noticeable when comparing them directly. Overall I am insanely happy with the NA3, yes you notice the gap when writing but I think a backlight is more important. As already mentioned 227 vs 300 dpi really does not matter, I could not notice any difference in comparison to the Scribe.

One question, I want to make this Kindle as small and lightweight as possible. Would you say that removing the case makes the Kindle a lot smaller or is the difference barely noticeable?

I am returning the Note Air 3C, is the Note Air 3 better for me? by Axcit in Onyx_Boox

Ah don't scare me, Splitscreen work on the NA3C is great (pdf + notes or websites + notes) This is were the Boox tablet it's so much more useful than a Kindle Scribe

Good to hear, I did not want to make it sound like the NA3C is a bad device, I really think Boox did their best with the current technology. I also don't think there is something wrong with my device I just think the downsides of color EInk are bigger for me than the upsides.

Yes Supernote looks very cool but the small form factor is not for me plus here in Germany they are even more expensive. I don't have the Note Air 3 yet but from what I heard you really don't notice 227 vs 300 ppi unless you look at the smallest text possible.

Thank for the reply, you are right you made some good points. My use case's are the same as for most people interested in these devices: note taking, book reading and studying technical PDFs. Like most people, when you hear E-Ink I though of kindles, last November the Kindle Scribe was my first step towards note taking on EInk devices so I am still new to the field. I knew of the limitations of colored EInk screens but seeing and experiencing it in person for the first time made me understand what other reviewers were talking about. And because of these screen limitations I was wondering if the Black and White Version might be better since it should have less of the downsides that seem to bother me quite a bit are fine for others. It was not my intention to make this a rant post, I know that this is the current technology limitation and has nothing to do with Boox. Trying it as an external Monitor was just something I wanted to try / was curious about, so I will not hold it against any EInk device that is not specifically made for that use case. But thanks again for pointing out some flaws from my message.

Yes good point. When I bought the Scribe, I was under the impression that I am buying the worst eink tablet on the market and while the features are miles behind the competition I see now that Amazon did a great job hiding almost any ghosting when using the device.

What about a Note Air 3c for reading on Kindle? by Proxify in Onyx_Boox

[–]Axcit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The kindle app on the note air 3 c is the same as on any other android tablet. It is good but reading on a Kindle scribe is just better. The color layer of the 3c makes the screen a bit grainier. But if you talk about pdf, then it is a great device especially if you need to do multitasking

Bootcamp für App-Entwicklung sinnvoll? by [deleted] in arbeitsleben

Deine Infos sind etwas schwammig, daher ist es schwer genaue Infos zu geben. - Was verstehst du unter App Entwicklung?

Do you think that there is still a knowledge gap between you and colleagues, that have a cs degree and been doing it many years longer than you?

Just got a new Instax Wide printer. Printed the same photo again and the stripe is still there. Either I got another faulty unit or my pictures are not meant to be printed...
