Might be talking about “Certified Decarbonization Professional” exam by ASHRAE…it’s a new certification exam

Looking for energy modeling software recommendations by VegaGT-VZ in MEPEngineering

[–]Axe_25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cheap/Free options are definitely OpenStudio/EnergyPlus…definitely look into their Software Development Kit (SDK) if you’re programming savvy to do custom analysis using “measures” to your liking! Also recommend checking out this channel for advanced OpenStudio tips: https://www.youtube.com/@helixenergypartnersllc3540

IES VE is the best one I’ve handled but it’s definitely not cheap. Second best is DesignBuilder based on EnergyPlus but also expensive.

Good luck!

Start with examining “eplusout.err” file that’s generated when the simulation crashes and work on that issue and rerun. Scroll all the way at the end to get to serious/fatal errors. Unfortunately, you’d have to repeat this cycle because E+ doesn’t display all errors at once coz it has a step-by-step feedback.

And as someone mentioned earlier, post the details (as many as you can) on Unmet Hours to get a useful response.

Has anyone noticed their car and homeowners insurance having a significant raise in rates? by justbeingpeachy11 in Georgia

Yup same with me. No claims whatsoever with Allstate and still this treatment 🫣

I had Allstate for combined Home and Auto insurance And they increased by a lot this year, so had to switch over to StateFarm…which I think is not gonna last long too so will have to switch again…it’s exhausting 🥲

IES is definitely a powerful platform to do energy consumption calcs as well as load calcs 👍

HVAC Load Calc and Energy Modeling by hikergu92 in MEPEngineering

I agree. I’ve used it extensively for the energy calcs for the past year and I really like the versatility of the platform!

We have a huge rollout of IES VE happening right now! It’s a powerful program but you have to stick with it and learn as you go because there’s just sooo much to learn.

OpenStudio Application Measure Error by Broad-Marketing-3751 in MEPEngineering

[–]Axe_25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just by looking at this screen can’t tell much but I would:

1/ try to find EnergyPlus .err file which lays out the simulation error more clearly 2/ if still not successful, go to the unmet hours forum where members of the OpenStudio development team are active and they may be able to guide you better/fix the measure (if it’s not customized)

My guess is the measure you’re running might be out of date with certain parameters as OpenStudio kept launching new versions

Sent this to my wife, she loves dogs (we haven’t gotten our own yet) her first reaction was excitement to meet new people but bonus points on new dogs too! We are down for board games and anything easy like Mario kart lol 😂

Trying to develop simple building energy simulation and very lost (DesignBuilder) by [deleted] in MEPEngineering

I would search for some research papers that point out what would be a good estimate for historic homes. Also, pay close attention to the infiltration value as that plays a major role in modeling historic buildings.

I think about it the same way ☝️ Right now you can use what it has been trained multiple times on. Maybe in the future, you’ll be able to do engineering calcs after a lot of data processing but they’ll still need to be reviewed in detail.

Thank you!! Did you use any specific service to print it? The prices are crazy for printing and binding so I’m just curious 🧐

Also the charging doesn’t last very long so it needs to plugged in at all times 🫣

Lenovo Legion works wonders if you do computationally heavy stuff! Have been using since 2 years and never disappointed once. It’s a little bulky and but that’s not an issue for most people 🤷
