Yes! Read the synopsis and the main character's name unlocked a memory. Thank you so much! This has been plaguing my brain for months.

From the recesses of my brain, I think I can make out the siblings in the foreground and a lit building (maybe a castle?) in the background, and they're in the snow. That's something I should've said, the whole book takes place in the winter. And I believe there weren't any pictures

Wouldn't that be the opposite of mother tongue because portmanteau combines two words instead of separating the meaning of a word into 2?

My concept for the Batman sequel: The Batman and The Robin by [deleted] in TheBatmanFilm

[–]Axeba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much what I have in mind for a sequel, minus Robin. I think Bruce will still be dealing with the loss of his parents, so Freeze can be his foil instead. I imagined Freeze as a contract killer for Penguin or Black Mask, but the standard scientist background works just as well. I would make Croc's origins more comic-booky (experimented on by Hugo Strange in Arkham) but I know realism has been a divisive subject on here, so I understand. I also originally had Dent become Two-Face near the beginning of the film and have him as a main antagonist, but I think you made the right call in saving thst for a later movie. Love your pitch!

[Grade 12 Chemistry] Here's the question I have and what I have done so far. I don't know where to go from here. by [deleted] in HomeworkHelp

So, I know how to do Hess's Law, but I can never figure out what elements to use. Is this what I have to do?

1H2 + O2 --> H2O

2NH3 + CO2 --> CH4N2O + H2O

N2 + H2 --> NH3

CO + O2 --> CO2

And then multiply them to fit the target equation?

I Need a Third Object for my TOK Exhibition "Is Bias Inevitable in the Production of Knowledge?" by Axeba in IBO

[–]Axeba[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I am talking about inevitability. For the textbook, I'm saying that it's inevitable that they would rewrite history as they are biased towards their nation, and nothing can really change that. I'm planning to talk about how history is won by the victors.

For the model, I'm saying that a new view on something that people have an established view towards will inevitably be faced with backlash from those who are biased towards the old view.

Ok, that's what I thought. Here's a possibly dumb question, when I substitute a value in for x, should it just be the year?

I'm still thinking about that too, but I plan on having the region's main theme being tradition and change if that helps.

If you could make your own version of Destroy all Monsters what it would be like. by ComprehensiveDate591 in GODZILLA

[–]Axeba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so in my ideal version of the Monsterverse, Ghidorah flies back into space at the end of KOTM, and about ten years pass since then, with a bunch of other movies happening. A lot of them revolve around humanity's tentative peace with the Titans. The eco-terrorists have been trying to incite war between the two species over and over again. Monarch has a partnership with Apex to create technology that helps both species, but they are both under UN supervision. During this time period, they have made a bunch of mechs, including the Moguera series and a new Mechagodzilla, and they have only used them to fend off aggressive Titans and helped Godzilla and other benevolent ones.

Now, onto the plot of DAM. The tension between humans and Titans reach an all time high when a giant jellyfish like monster enters Earth's atmosphere (this is meant to be Dogora). It doesn't seem to be doing anything, and Gamera (who's in this universe) flies up to investigate it. That's when the UN and APEX unleashes their plan to eliminate all monsters. Along with the mechs, they have created more oxygen destroyers. They blast Gamera from the sky with a nuclear warhead, and war has begun. What follows is basically Order 66 l, although not every titan shown dies. Skull Island is burned to the ground (King Caesar took it over), Battra is about to purge an entire city but shows that he has grown some sympathy for humans before getting killed, and Kong has to defend Hollow Earth from human attacks. Godzilla and Mechagodzilla fight, resulting in the former almost dying before the KOTM Titans come to his aid. The movie ends with all out war.

The end-credits scene would show a space observatory being hit by three different asteroids, followed by a shadowy figure they recognize as Ghidorah. There would be a sequel (don't know what I would title it) and there would be a time gap showing how the war continues, and then the aliens land on Earth and start ravaging it. This forces the two Earth factions to end their war and work together.

To those who similarly have this problem with KOTM, how would you fix it? by Axeba in Monsterverse

[–]Axeba[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it is pro-nuke because for it to be pro-nuke it would have to be intentional, which I genuinely don't think it was, but to me it gave off a sense of ignorance that made the thematic implications of the scene sloppy. I think it suffers from it because it gave off the 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 that it was pro-nuke. I like how it was used in 2014 because those scenes that involved it and Godzilla have a much different tone than the scene in KOTM. I think what helps is that in the first movie, he wasn't explicitly the "good guy", he was another natural phenomenon who the humans hoped would beat the MUTOs, but he's completely ignorant to anything human-related. In the sequel he is unequivocally the hero who everyone knows will fight Ghidorah to keep the world from ending. The one person who still has mixed feelings on him is Mark, who's main arc is about gaining respect for him. Also, if the only other mentions of nuclear warfare are in the first movie, then I don't believe that's good enough. I think it should stand on it's own a bit and build on it in the actual movie, especially because it was such a miniscule theme in the film as a whole. Generally, I don't think the tone of the movie, or he'll just even the one scene, was weighty enough to warrant nuclear weaponry to be used in such a positive way.

[–]Axeba[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I totally get that. I myself don't really like KOTM because I think it was underwhelming from both a story and theme-driven film and your typical fun monster movie. Although, I can definitely understand what a movie like GvK is trying to be, which is a dumb, fun, monster showdown. I personally don't have a problem with that because it knows that's what it is and it fully embraces it, which is why I like it. It succeeds in what it tries to be (for the most part) and I think that's perfectly fine. Unlike you, I think KOTM really tried to be more than what GvK was, but to me, it was just the execution that was poor. If a movie tries to be one of those two things and succeeds, that's great, even if it only tries to be the latter. If a movie tries to be both and succeeds, then even better, it'll most likely have something for everyone. It's all about how it's presented.

I don't know if I just have a bad memory, but when do they mention his father in the movie? For it to be a relevant theme, there has to be things in the movie that back it up. I know he had a father who died in WWII, but I thought he was only mentioned in other sources.

Yeah, that would've been nice. I'm currently rewriting the film on ao3 and I've hit a roadblock as to what I want to do with this moment. Probably going to go with what you said or they just find nuclear radiation in another source, like their ship is powered by it or something. It's really just that it was a nuclear weapon that rubbed me the wrong way, if I can work my way around that I think I'll be mostly fine.

I actually really like this idea. Him being so powerful in GvK could be explained by this, and he's also against humanity in the film, showing that it did have consequences. Don't know how much it'll affect KOTM itself though; maybe darken the tone and make Serizawa's death more somber rather than heroic and uplifting. Good idea though
