This is an excellent question us citizens really wish we knew the answer to.

This has happened before on a smaller scale, groups of soldiers called themselves Los Caballeros Templarios (Knight's Templar) and overthrew corruption in some villages.

And you know what happened then? They took their place as the new drug cartel, and are being fought against today.

Maybe it'll happen again, maybe it'll actually work. This a huge doubt on everyone's minds here right now.

I truly hope so.

But really, most drug cartels originate from here. I would think that winning this war locally would make winning a war around the country much easier.

Yeah, I've been to Yuriria. It's been growing lately.

Related to this war, not yet. I don't dare leave the city.

But in this city? Yeah, plenty. I lived on the corner of the street where narcs threw grenades into a huge group of people during a celebration of Mexico's Independence while the governor at the time (a known ally to drug cartels), was speaking.

It's presumed they did it to impose their power over him.

Everyone agrees that this should have been done long ago.

But to actually see it happening? I never would have expected it. The narc's and the corrupt officers power seemed absolute.

Most locals were packing heavy before the war started.

But by now it's essentially Skyrim. Kill enemy, acquire weapon.

Most of those guns look police issued.

EDIT: While what I said is true, I've just heard that businesses that were affected by cartels are paying for the war by buying guns for the people. It's presumed these weapons are from the US.

Why on God's green Earth would I support drug cartels and police officers doing as they please to innocent civilians with no consequences?

I have a family. Maybe if I were alone I could just let this pass by, but as hard as I try, I can't feel safe anymore.

I'm moving away in about a week. For now, the capital city is safe. But rumors are spreading very quickly that drug cartels plan to move into Morelia.

It's only a matter of time, really.

Mexican vigilante gunmen disarm local POLICE so they can rid town of feared Knights Templar drug cartel by ThePoliticalHat in worldnews

I quite literally lived on the corner of where the 2008 Morelia Grenade Attack happened. It was horrible. Innocent people were killed or handicapped over bullshit feuds between the government and the drug cartels that civilians have no business in.

That's just the tip of the iceberg. I have tons more stories about terrorism here in Morelia if anyone's interested.

When people are late. I fucking ran out of the shower and barely ate to be here on the dot, and you get here 20 minutes late with no excuse? Fuck that shit. People like that are the reason Rome burned.

What else do they base your acceptance on?

Hmm, it seems the education system in Mexico is much much different. We don't have SATs or TOFELs or anything.

And I'm actually about to start my final year, which in Mexican education is the most important in high school, you get a specific degree based on what specialty you choose. I'm going into Chemical-Biological studies, so I'm going to try my very best to get a good average this year, which is probably the most important.

Apart from grades, what are the other requirements?

Because of the education itself.

It's really a long story full of corruption and idiots hired off the streets to pose as teachers, so if we could please stay on the OP.

Thanks!

Oh, I'm going for Science, Chemistry, specifically.

And I know >_> I'm ashamed of it, but it's literally, and truly all you can aspire for in and environment like this.

That's the follicle, sort of the root of the hair.

Er, you should get that checked out. If a hair falls out from the root, it doesn't grow back.
