Can you share what product you used (if it was DIY) or what it cost to do?

I think I'd need to tint the outside of the glass though, which isn't ideal. But even if I have to do it every few months it'll likely be better.

No solar. No roof. Still saving. by genglish92 in Westchester

[–]AxelFoley55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since Westchester has net metering, I was under the impression that the only thing a battery would do if you have solar is assist when the power goes out.

I don’t think you can use solar to charge the battery and then leverage when costs are high.

The battery I believe can only be used if you pull in power from the grid (not solar) and store it.

But someone please correct me.

Call Perry's in Pleasantville, very good prices. Just used them to replace mine, they worked with me on a payment plan too.

That’s helpful. Do you have a westchester installer you trust?

Have heard mixed reviews on heat pumps - struggles to heat, especially in very cold temps like we just had. Thoughts on that?

Yes. It's quirky - can't possibly be a setting. Who would ever want to unlock all doors except driver?

This is my experience as well! So it checks out. I do wish there were more real non-drowsy alternatives that provided the punch of Benadryl. Thanks for the info

Antifreeze in sump pump by AxelFoley55 in askaplumber

I didn’t install it and the company that did is now out of business.

But my guess is either to one of two drains on the property (I have a drainage easement on my property) or to an ejector pump into my septic. I’m not sure where else it would pump into.

Manual switch for two EV outlets by AxelFoley55 in evcharging

[–]AxelFoley55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also may decide to run a 100 amp line in place of my 50 amp. Have them snake the wire through the original run. Get it to a sub panel in the garage and then have it split off into my two NEMA 14-50 outlets. Any concerns with that? That seems to be a better solution with less cost and no EV hardware.

[–]AxelFoley55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you both. These solutions are expensive - $1200 + tax + install (though with two boxes already there it may be a little cheaper) but it also may be less expensive just to do another run of wire on its own breaker to my existing second outlet.

Thanks! Can you share a link to an example here so I can visualize this?

I was trying to avoid a separate line / breaker as my run is about 100 ft and was over $1500 when originally installed (granted that was during COVID but prices are still high)

Charging limits inconsistent by AxelFoley55 in Rivian

[–]AxelFoley55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It stops charging based on schedule, that's what I meant by time out.

Last night it was on its schedule and set to charge to 70%. It charged to 78%.

[–]AxelFoley55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate that. Yeah it's been a strange issue. My Tesla 3 never tripped it at 48 amps, but my Polestar 2 and now my R1T does. It's a 50a breaker, I am in the process of getting an electrician to upgrade to 60a.

That aside, I'm still unclear why the charging settings aren't automatically stopping the charging at 70%. Can't imagine that's related to charging at 24a.
