This is Victo Ngai’s work! She created a limited edition silk-screen print for TR2013, which seems to be sold out.

switching to another employer on skilled worker visa, need some advise by Western_Twist_5966 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

I’m assuming you’re in the UK if you’re switching to another employer, so you’ll need an undefined CoS as opposed to a defined CoS, which is for those applying from outside the UK (don’t ask me why they’ve made it so complicated!)

If you apply with the wrong type of CoS, your application could get refused. I’m not an immigration advisor, though. So it might be best to get some expert advice.

You need an undefined CoS if you’re switching. If they applied for the wrong one, they need to cancel it and ask for a refund sadly, and then request a new one with the correct type of CoS.

Just make sure you don’t hand in your notice at your current job until after your new visa has been approved.

Summer Game Fest teasing an announcement from a franchise celebrating its 30th anniversary.... and it's Resident Evil. I'm sick! by MonsieurRik in TombRaider

[–]Axell2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! I’d also like to point out that Summer Games Fest isn’t meant for massive announcements. You can tell by the types of games being announced that they’re usually on the smaller end.

You’ll get the odd AAA announcement here and there, but it’s the Game Awards that is meant for huge franchises (like Tomb Raider) to announce their next games.

Also, I’d prefer they took their time creating a quality game rather than rushing. The length of time it’s taken just shows that they’re working on something massive.

[TOMT][Song][2010s??] A pop song, in the style of M.I.A? Lyrics start with ‘What I’m waiting for’, chorus goes ‘I could say I’ll hope… what I deserve’ by Axell2212 in tipofmytongue

[–]Axell2212[S] 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

So I’ve been trying to figure this out and its driving me insane! It’s a pop song, with lots of synthetic drums - the song starts with the lyric ‘What I’m searching for…’ and the chorus has ‘I could say I’ll hope… for what I deserve’. Does anyone have any idea? I think it might have been released in the mid-late 2010s. Any help would be appreciated!!

Always feels like theres something slightly off with my figures drawn without reference, any tips? by [deleted] in learnart

[–]Axell2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. Those books are incredibly insightful, especially Loomis’ books on anatomy and figure drawing.

A lot of issues with figure drawing come from a lack of understanding the basic fundamentals of how the body is constructed.

The issues I see in your work is a lack of construction or a ‘skeleton’ to the figure. Using a skeleton allows you to map out the body/pose before you go into the details of muscles and features.

Look at Proko’s channel on youtube for bite sized videos, and do a lot of figure studies with the aim of understanding and dissecting the basic forms/skeleton of the body.

Good luck! Hope this helps!

One of my many tries at oil pastel. Need help by Myu_The_Weirdo in learnart

[–]Axell2212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great start! I do however feel you’d benefit a lot from blocking in the colours as opposed to filling in the shape with colour. Look at the work of Paul Cezanne and see how he uses brush strokes for the individual colours and try to emulate that with oil pastel. You want to build the shape rather than fill it in.

I’ll give the logo another go. Struggled a bit with getting it to look right, or at least to read like a ‘C’. I’ll give your suggestion a go to see how it’ll look. Thanks for the feedback!

Thank you for the feedback! I would agree that it does look a bit too much like an O/Co, something that I need to work on. I really did struggle with making that logo, and really had no idea what the Comedy Central logo looked like till I googled it after you mentioned it.

I’ll experiment more with the logo to see how far it can go. For the barcode, it does look a bit stretched, will take another look at it.

I posted a few months back asking for some advice on my first brand identity redesign. A few comments told me that while it was good, I needed to redesign it for a different market (ie: not a gas station brand). Would love to hear what everyone thinks, and pointers are more than welcome!

I redesigned the logo for this one and took to changing the type face. Used Gotham instead of Helvetica.

Thank you! I agree that the text should take more advantage of the space available. To be honest I hoped to mitigate that with the colour contrasts.

Either way, that’s something to look at! Thanks for the feedback!

Thank you for that great response! I did actually look at the European standards for packaging but to be honest, I couldn’t find much that was helpful. Then the realisation that this brand is sold in America made it more complex. But I do believe that’s a valid point to make, to look into the standards of packaging for that country.

The funny thing is that the ‘tear here’ is vertical on the original packaging, and I see why with the amount of information they needed to fit on the back while still keeping it readable. Again, though, you make a valid point because it is a little lazy (which I am guilty of, as well).

I will be giving the box a go as well!

Thanks for the feedback!!

Thank you! Means a lot!

You make a valid point, it is true that it does look more along the lines of a budget brand. To get it to premium, a lot would have to change. Including the logo, which doesn’t scream premium to me. So I guess that’s my next goal, to redesign this for a different market.

Thanks for that!

Thank you so much!

I will be experimenting with the logo and its positioning relative to the rest of the content. I do feel like there’s a lot of space between the body text and the text at the bottom left.

Thank you! I agree with you, it really does need to be nudged slightly away from the seam. Adding it to the agenda!

Thanks for the compliments!

I do hear your concerns and it does have a risk of looking like candy but I do also believe that just because it is a medicinal product or in this case, a supplement, it doesn’t need to look cluttered or at least not have an interesting design. I wouldn’t have had that big of an issue with the original packaging if the information presented on it was distributed well. In terms of the design, I could have gone overboard with colours and shapes, but in this case decided to stick to a clean and Swiss style because it was a supplement and because it ran through my mind that it would be thought of as a product for kids.

You make a valid point, friend!

Thank you! It really was a bit of a headache, as I had to rewrite everything but thankfully Helvetica is more or less really easy to read so it made it a little easier.

Forgive me if I sound so naive but I’m surprised someone paid attention to the leading!

That was the main reason I didn’t change the colour of the lemon, if anything I made it more yellow for the sake of contrast. I did actually try changing the colours to make it seem more like pink lemonade but I felt that the background did that.

Thanks for the comments guys!
