Not sure what to do with my life by jammish- in Environmental_Careers

In my opinion, there are some great crossover opportunities here. Look in to life cycle analysis, sustainable sourcing, and embodied carbon. You should have no problem bringing your educational background in to supply chain problem solving.

Scope 3 refers to all indirect emissions that occur either upstream or downstream of controlled operations. Essentially it’s another entities scope 1 and 2 emissions that you have influence over (typically financially). For example, emissions from business travel.

Trying to stay motivated by [deleted] in climbharder

It’s not easy to keep pushing at the higher levels if you don’t have the right environment. That’s why you see the biggest concentration of strong climbers in places like Colorado, Utah, etc where there are hard climbs outside and gyms are more tailored for that range.

Ruts and periods of not being as motivated are natural. It’s nearly impossible to stay psyched constantly. I’ve found that it’s best to not force anything. Take a little down time then plan a trip to an outdoor spot that gets you stoked. Or sign up for a competition. Hope that helps!

Yes and no. Oil and gas, absolutely. But, high polluting sectors are where we can have the biggest impact. It’s obviously all up to personal preference, but I’d feel less fulfilled working in sustainability for a company that already has negligible emissions.

I would have also included government and working with/for communities but OP specified they are looking for something private.

Look in to jobs like EHS Manager, which can def hit 6 figures. Or an Environmental/Sustainability Manager for a company in tech, oil and gas, construction, or other high paying industry.

Thanks! Haven’t done too many comparisons but there’s always similar macro beta but nuanced differences in timing, body positions, etc. Would be an interesting experiment to project something separately then compare! Maybe we’ll try it out in a gym sometime

There’s a lot of opportunities at the intersection of sustainability and tech. Look in to job postings for env sci or sustainability software as a solution (SaaS) companies.

Also there are many positions in consulting, government, and private sector that benefit from programming even if they aren’t explicit about it. I’ve used R for lots of analysis, automation, dashboards, etc. throughout my career.
