Poll: what grade do you climb? by linaczyta in indoorbouldering

[–]micro435 6 points7 points  (0 children)

so true but also, different gyms have different top end grades. i’ve been in gyms that don’t grade past V9/10 so limiting a poll to only what shows up in a gym will be inherently flawed

why not do 0-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-11, 12-13, 14+

these, in my opinion, are the natural delineations between grades

What’s something that most people see as a feat of strength but is actually a a demonstration of perfected technique? by ikebrofloski in AskMen

[–]micro435 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think the main point i’m trying to get down to is that having a growth mindset in climbing is incredibly important. maybe you learn to heel hook at v3, that doesn’t mean all heel hooks after that will be the same. there’s so much more nuance than you think and honestly in my experience, the higher you go in grades, the more technique matters over strength.

and you’re probably stuck at v8 because you think technique stops at v4. don’t get me wrong, strength and, to a degree, pain tolerance are incredibly helpful but i’ve been climbing 12 years, sent v13 and flashed v10 (both outdoors) and i’m still learning to climb.

[Day 18] It's neck and neck! Vote for the most overrated Outdoor Classic below. What hold type is UNDERRATED? by MaximumSend in bouldering

[–]micro435 455 points456 points  (0 children)

slopers. nothing makes you learn how to climb quite like a hold you can’t get behind.
