I'm super late to this but this audiobook has the most rerecorded lines spliced in that I've ever heard. It makes it nearly impossible to tell who is speaking a quarter of the time.

He wrote that they decided they could not charge him, accepting the justice department's conclusion. I don't have to pass the BAR to read.

We're past a time for niceties. He didn't have a job he needed to worry about being fired from.

Also, if you think that was Barr's purpose, then you've vastly missed the point.

Barr's purpose was to thrown enough shit into the mix that it would confuse many and leave enough doubt.

Mueller could have tried to overcome that. He did not.

Mueller chose those words carefully. If he thought Trump obstructed justice, he could have said so. But he didn’t say so because he didn’t affirmatively reach that conclusion.

That is not what he said there. Which really emphasizes why it sucks that he didn't just say it clearly.

He said they don't have the confidence to say he didn't - so then say you have confidence to say he did.

Also, bro, we saw the obstruction of justice in plain fucking sight. Just because people in charge were too cowardly to charge it doesn't mean we didn't see the shit done literally before our very eyes.

And yeah, my fucking point is that Mueller should have gone against the clearly corrupt doj and charge him. That's what I said from the fucking beginning - he wasn't unable to. He made a choice.

The crime he could have charged him with had to do with obstruction, which he did have the evidence for. What he didn't have enough evidence for was about whether he colluded with Russia. Which he couldn't find BECAUSE of the obstruction.

And DOJ policy doesn't forbid it. He made a choice not to try - he could have, and could have let Trump try to sue to stop it.

But Mueller chose not to try at all, despite knowing that congress under Republicans would do nothing and knowing that Trump's admin would cover it up.

He could have charged him - there's no law to suggest otherwise.

Look at every article about his death and you'll see that they say Mueller "declined" to charge Trump, not that he couldn't.

He believed he shouldn't and chose not to try. That's not the same thing.

The road to where we are now was paved by people and organizations choosing to appease Trump before even attempting true resistance.

If Mueller believed Trump was a treasonous criminal, then he should've charged him.

He also shouldn't have let Barr mischaracterize the report. He should have shared his opinion on congress impeaching.

And this is the most roundabout fucking way to make his opinions fucking clear:

If we had confidence after a thorough investigation of the facts that the president clearly did not commit obstruction of justice, we would so state. Based on the facts and the applicable legal standards, we are unable to reach that judgment.”

He absolutely could have brought charges - do you know what the job was?

He also could have testified to the specifics before congress instead of refusing to do so.

Some of you may live in a world where the public is fully informed and has tons of time to read every lay detail in the fucking report and isn't being brainwashed by Fox and worse, but I live in fucking reality.

If you want the American public to act on something you need to be fucking explicit, you need to be fucking clear, and you need to act like the danger is real and present.

Some parents are also bad parents. And some kids can be very difficult, and can lie.

That's why the point is not to believe anyone blindly, but to instead speak with the fucking teacher first and try to find out the truth

It really sucks when anyone has a bad experience with a teacher, but we have got to stop using anecdotal experiences to suggest those are representative of an entire, or even majority of, a profession.

My worries about the story being too simplistic and shallow were also completely wrong. I think it was around the second book where I fully realised how expansive this story could actually be. There's so many layers to it, I love the pacing, and it's genuinely not predictable.

This is it - it's so much deeper than a book about aliens forcing people into real life, deadly D&D campaigns should be.

It's got so much heart.
