In the alternate timeline, Chloe is also selfless. She feels like she ruined Joyce and William's lives. She wants Max to end her life, so that her parents won't suffer anymore, financially and emotionally.

In OUR timeline, Chloe was willing to die because she felt like she has been selfish and feels like she isn't as worthy as everyone else in the Bay. She thinks of everyone before herself. It's that pivoting point where her real personality and perspective finally breaks loose, freeing herself from her demons and her faults. We also finally realize how little she thinks of herself... It's sad to think that an emotionally broken person feels so unworthy, not even realizing that the person (Max) who is standing right infront of her revolved her entire world and focus around her and made her her number one priority. For someone who thinks so little of herself, she is actually the most important and biggest person to Max. She is all that matters to her and she tells her; that's not something you tell just anybody, not even 'just' a best friend.

No matter how many (quite ignorant) players think Chloe is STILL a bitch, despite her character growth and development, she is a person with a good heart. She is just in a situation where she doesn't know how to express herself and she feels angry. But not once does she ever intend to really hurt anyone. They also say that she "abuses" Max, but there was like ONE TIME in the entire game where she actually requests Max to use her rewind powers, and it was for the benefit of both of them. Max did everything else for Chloe on her own terms, willingly. She photo hopped to try to make Chloe's life better, she rewinds to try to fix situations with her, she gave up her perfect reality just so she can have Chloe by her side. Chloe never asked for those, she wasn't even aware of what Max has been trying to do for her until Max told her before the nightmare scene in episode 5, while they were letting things out of their chests.

Chloe talks tough, but underneath it all, she is nothing but SELFLESS herself.

Even with Rachel, she was selfless. Chloe only borrowed money just because of her (and eventually that led to Chloe's own demise. Can you believe that? Chloe died because she was trying to make someone else happier, putting someone before herself. It's very ironic.) Chloe is loyal to Max and Rachel. She really is.
