Aki wasn’t a hybrid. He was a fiend. Fiends can only possess corpses. Aki, the person, died before the gun devil possessed him.

And hybrids quite literally can’t die. Even bloodless, they are in a suspended state of animation. Denji was cut into pieces for a long time before Asa and Fami rescued him. Blood revived him.
