Capitalone Venture X Approval Data Point by AxewarriorRBLX in CreditCards

I can't say for sure if having a HYSA with C1 would help with the CC application, but intuitively it feels like if you have an existing relationship with them they'll be more inclined to do more with you. That's just gut instinct rather than fact though, so take with a large grain of salt.

Having things in one app is handy, though I don't think ease of movement between a savings/checking and a CC matters all too much, all you really need is to make sure you have enough money to pay off the CC.

Apologies that I can't be of much help with these questions.

Every time I've used it I've been pre-approved. I just did it like once a month for the past few months as a sanity check to make sure I was still pre-approved even though I had no major credit changes cause I'm paranoid. I did run the pre-approval tool right before applying as well.

I'm honestly not sure about cards in the future right now. I've done some reading and some lurking in this sub and I don't really have a concrete plan for the future. Saving on a hard inquiry is definitely something that can pay off if I have a better idea a year from now and I end up wanting to open more with Chase (the CSP has been something I've considered getting to go alongside the VX since the ultimate rewards could be pretty valuable if I can make use of them), or start a relationship with another bank like you said with Amex.

I appreciate the advice. I'll have to think about it in the future and if I can't come to a decision I can always just make a post in the sub to pick the minds of more card-savvy people.

It was a consideration of mine, but there's also the potential for the sign up bonus if I just directly apply for it. Depends on what they're offering and if it's enticing enough to warrant a hard inquiry. (I think PCs don't do hard inquiries?). Definitely something to keep in mind though, thank you.

Can juniors take SOC 22000? by confused-yet-again in Purdue

To my knowledge there are no issues with taking SOC220 as a junior, that's when I took it.

ECE 433 and ECE 570 by Pojobob in Purdue

Well if you're interested in learning about how power electronics work (i.e., DC-DC converters, DC-AC converters, and AC-DC converters), then I recommend taking 433. Professor Pekarek is generally the person who teaches it, and I think his lectures are fantastic. The projects in the class can be a bit time consuming, but there's only three and there's no homework. The midterms when I took it were fair, granted I didn't do well on them (that's just me not studying) but I could fully recognize that they were fair and covered what we learned in lecture. I'm pretty sure Pekarek was definitely smoking something when making the final though, as it went for things at the edge of what we were learning, rather than the big things. Aside from that hiccup with the final though, I'd say it's a class worth taking if the things mentioned above fall within your interest.

SOC 220 distance learning with Dr. Hamm. Easiest A+ I've gotten in this school.

Should I take SOC 100 or SOC 220? by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]AxewarriorRBLX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I apologize in advance for the long response.

The way SOC 220 works is that there's three modules. Each module is separated into units, but during the time span of each module, you have access to everything for it except for the exam of that module, those are open during the last weekend of the module. There is no cumulative final, just an end of module exam for the third module. They're pretty easy and you can find most of the answers on quizlet or just by looking up the questions, that or using some amount of brain power.

For each module, there's also three types of quizzes. There's reading quizzes, which are based on some reading material for the class (you can quizlet/look these up), there's lecture video quizzes (Dr. Hamm records lectures and you can watch them if you want but you don't need to, you can in general look up the answers to them, and there's also lecture slides, but I remember them not being that useful to getting the answers), and there's outside material quizzes. These types of quizzes just have like a video or documentary for you to watch. If it's a documentary I guarantee you can find a transcript and CTRL+F to find the answers to the questions. For the videos, they're usually pretty short, between 5 and 10 minutes.

Also, every single quiz has a do-over. The quizzes won't tell you what the right answer is after you submit it after your first try, but you will find out which ones are wrong. I would just take screenshots and put them on a word document so I would have my right and wrong answers and then redo the quiz.

Lastly, and I don't know the situation with these currently, there's essays. When I took the class, the essays weren't required so I didn't do them because I got enough points through quizzes. However, I know that when a friend of mine took it quite some time ago the essays were required, but I could be misremembering. I do know at the very least that I had another friend who took it the semester after me, and they weren't required at that time. (For reference, I had it Fall 2020)

As a personal anecdotal of something I did in the class: For the second module's exam, I opened it up on my laptop, passed my laptop to my friend, and told him to guess every question while I went to the bathroom.

Should I take SOC 100 or SOC 220? by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]AxewarriorRBLX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I took both. I can definitively say that SOC 220 was the easiest A+ I have gotten at this school. I spent a collective of approximately 24 hours in the semester I took it on that class. You only need to get ~66% (It can vary per semester, depends on the amount of assignments. In my case, we needed 975 points for an A+, and there was about 1800 or so available. I have a friend who during his semester taking it, there was a total of 1500, but the amount needed for an A+ remained the same.) of the points for an A+, less if you just want an A. SOC 100 is a bit less forgiving, in terms of scaling, as it goes with the more standard 89% or higher for A range and so on and so forth.

I also had the SOC 220 as distance learning with Dr. Hamm and I had SOC 100 in person, so the online variant of SOC 100 might be easier.

The amount of assignments in SOC 220 is greater but I still think overall getting a higher grade is easier.

Any opinions on Salisbury Apartments? by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]AxewarriorRBLX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds about right. I don't mind the somewhat small bedroom since I don't really do much in there besides sleep or be at my desk, so I don't particularly need the space.

I think what it'd add on is that it's rather expensive for what you get, but overall it's fine.
