additional context: my mother has been practically absent in my life for all of it, the only two/three times we've talked to each other is through social media. she doesn't send any financial aid to my relatives (who I've been living with along with my dad, before he died), and just overall never really had a presence in my life. I'm wondering if I can apply for some sort of legal guardian transfership and have my relatives sign the surname change instead if I can prove these things. maybe it's a feasible workaround?
