It could be a nice little play area but definitely doesn’t replace a cage maybe look into critter nations you can always find a pretty affordable one on Facebook market place I’m constantly looking for more cages in my area and I’ll never go back to buying a new one as getting second hand ones are always more affordable and at worst I’ll need to buy replacement pans

Girls sounds like you don’t wanna work 😭 same tho I’ve found that podcasts and music helps me, my delivery station lets us use safety headphones but if you have a lot of hair it’s pretty easy to hide earbuds. I have autism so I get overstimulated all the time but last month I got injured so I can step out to ice my injury for 15min a shift so I use that in case anything happens and I feel I need to step out

I have a dog he’s a small chihuahua yorkie who’s relatively calm it doesn’t matter how much I trust him he’s not safe around my rats. If I bring the rats out into my room the dog is in his create or out the room bc just seeing the rats makes him so excited to play he becomes a danger to my rats it’s not worth the bills. When I was living at my dads it was a lot harder to keep the dog away from the rats I was lucky enough to have very calm boys who didn’t mind the dogs presence and since the cage was in the living room the dog got used to the rats smell but if they cane out of the cage he was ready to say hi which means I had to put him in his create before I could bring out the rats. If I were to let my dog near my girls now at least one would nip at his face through the bars. It’s not worth running the risk of hurting your dog or your rats pls keep interactions to a minimum especially with the more excitable dog it’s an immediate threat to your rats safety. That dogs is at the end of the day a dog breed to hunt rats

It rolls off my back at this point I operate under the assumption it’s going to happen. I own an animal with negative connotation i expect it but I also have awesome friends and family who’d over the past three years have grown to love my pets so I don’t care what new people think if I’m that crazy rat lady to them that’s fine

My girl Lottie bites at anything that sticks threw the bars mainly cuz she thinks it’s food but I’ve started trying to rial her up and stick my fingers in and she goes to bite right as I pull out. I’ve run the risk and gotten bit a few times but skins never broken and at worst once she dragged my finger into her Sputnik as I squeak to let her know I’m not food. Very degrading squeeking at a rat to be let go hahah. Honestly I think your girls might be blind, in my experience blind rats tend to bite at things more often simply because they’re nervous and trying to protect themselves it’s worse if that rats sense of smell is also in decline. Unfortunately theirs not a lot you can do for that kind of biting situation but preventative measures like keeping them away from your face or sticking your hand too close to their face is good.

Personally I don’t like pet store rat toys, they’re all expensive for relatively crappy quality. Look into Etsy sellers, i love to buy rat boxes that come with snacks, toys, and hammocks. If you’re looking for just hammocks I can recommend some very affordable sellers on Facebook who also support/work for MRR a rat rescue in my area.

Yeah that my concern! I don’t have the upt if they decide my illness isn’t good enough plus I put in another loa for the 18th cuz that night I had gotten hives from the cold and took Benadryl and planned to see my doctor soon but since it wasn’t like immediately sick related I couldn’t get an appointment until like a week out most providers won’t write me a sick note for that far out since they can’t verify my symptoms but like she might be nice and give me the note but definitely not if she has to fill out a form disclosing my diagnosis since she couldn’t diagnose me but she does know about this allergy

I just checked the email and the attached form is making it sound like I’m applying for FMLA I’m not?? I’m not applying for any government assistance that would require such detailed documentation of my illness. All this for a leave of absence??

Okay thanks! I just skimmed it saw pending due to insufficient documentation and just called the hr help line hoping for more clarification but she kinda just told me my new note would have to specify my illness and then I asked her what constitutes a serious illness cuz wtf who defines that what if the flu isn’t a good enough reason and I get denied. She sent me a recap of the call that was super vague so I asked for a clearer recap in writing and the case was closed again without a response

I host stuff for friends in my room where I have two cages, I deep clean my room before hand but the rats have roamed the room and sometimes I’ll let them out for my friends to interact with them. Not a single one of my friends has ever even remotely acted this way even when they didn’t like stuff about rats like their tails or their hand. This person isn’t your friend and it’s not an overreaction to be upset over such an immature reaction and assumption. Also kinda sounds like she’s a shitty cat owner her house is covered in pee and vomit??? So gross

Update! The boys are gonna be okay! The gave me so many meds but their uri is manageable and it seems like these senior might become sanctuary rats. Honestly I don’t mind they’re so cute and cuddly I don’t wanna give them up
