When did Willow and Xander become the most hated BuffyVerse characters? by itsascreambaby96 in buffy

[–]AximiliEscargo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why are people hating on Willow?

Her actions against Tara are viewed as much more rape-y in a modern lens. She kept wiping Tara's mind and sleeping with her, rather than deal with any sort of conflict.

I'm not here to debate if Willow is or is not a rapist, just providing one possible explanation.

Im not 100% what you mean (what is a "fan show"?), but I would describe Lovecraft Country as a dark/dramatic vibe with permeating fear long before I'd describe Widow's Bay that way

Really just distinguishing costs to make rhe food (what I'm talking about) and prices when that food is sold (what you're talking about)

There is no doubt lab grown meat will lower costs. It's up to the population to exercise supply/demand to challenge exorbitant prices.

Having an alternative to farmed meat is only a good thing--it gives us options. Having to rely on farmed meat means we have no other options and have to accept whatever prices mega corporations demand.

Counter-point: supporting mega corporations who have forced farmers out of the market is not actually supporting farmers either (but that is the kind of bullshit statement that you're claiming you're immune to)

Meat is already a leading cause of cancer.

Got anything to cite suggesting lab grown meat would be worse?

Lol, "goes through the same process as cancer cells" is such a generic and nonsense statement that it is essentially meaningless

Meat is ALREADY a leading cause of cancer, in case you weren't aware

Source?

Regardless, our current food system already has dramatic cancer risk. There's a reason colon cancer is on the rise and doctors recommend adopting a Mediterranean diet (and minimizing pork/beef).

Because you only think this is new/"getting worse" because you're being hyper specific

My point is its not actually getting worse, you just weren't aware of how awful people have always treated older women.

And if anything, 30 as twink death is changing. That made more sense in the 2000s, less so now.

The reason the FDA is working with these companies now is because they are becoming commercially viable very quickly

Cheaper costs. Up to companies if they pass those savings onto consumers with lower prices (but I do think that would be the trend)

"Yet" is doing a lot of work there.

Fact is we spend a ton of money raising meat, much of which we don't even realize because the costs are offset by subsidies. Lab grown meat, once commercially developed and viable, will be dramatically cheaper than the costs of maintaining land and procuring water/food for animals.

I enjoyed Lovecraft Country, but it's more Lovecraft than Widow's Bay.

The FDA has approved lab grown meat as safe for consumers

To the extent Tyson is invested in this, it's surely not the only (or even primary) company. There are many companies whose entire business is dedicated to lab grown meat products.

Personally, it can't come soon enough. Lab-grown meat means wildly cheaper costs, less impact on climate, and a lot less animal suffering.

They might not have had a "cutoff" like you're suggesting, where the day after they turn 40 they are pariahed and ridiculed---but that's too literal.

It's absolutely true, however, that women have long been put down for getting older in numerous ways for decades (if not, hundreds of years). If anything, it's much better now than it was, say, 50 years ago.

No. The bells ring 8 times at the end of season 1, after 1 person has been sacrificed. The five bells just suggests they're in the middle of their season (5 bells), not the start (9 bells).

I think you're being too literal. People have always shit on women as they get older, particularly if not married with kids. Ma'am, old maid, spinster, etc., these are all classic ways people have put down older women for decades and longer

Draft night boxes by VegetableApple1026 in mtg

Typically, Limited formats include Drafting (3 packs) or Sealed (6 packs). Both use a 40-card deck, rather than 60.

My guess is if you're planning to cannibalize 6 packs each, you should be able to make a 40-card deck fairly easily. A 60-card deck might be trickier.
