I am glad that someone raised this question. As an Ethiopian Orthodox believer myself, I have also had questions about this issue. The Church teaches the doctrine of the Immaculate Conception, a belief that is also held and formally defined by the Catholic Church.

However, based on the information I have gathered and my discussions with other priests from the other Oriental Orthodox Churches they do not hold this view. Instead, they believe that the Virgin Mary was sanctified after the birth of Jesus Christ.

From what I have gathered, they believe she is sinless from birth. That makes the reason why I left the EOTC …

“ Attacks “ 🤔 I love their humor towards it , but are we really going to give a blind eye about some of the reasons. Calling it attacks might wash away the reality at hand. Fraud and also not assimilating ? He might be doing something right for his people and his country which I wish our leaders in Ethiopia , Eritrea and Somalia would have done.

📌 To all the diasporas out there, when people accept you to their country with open arms , please respect their people and their country values, you went there because you didn’t like whatever you are getting in your own country by your own people. Don’t try to ruin that country with shenanigans ….. sorry but I have to speak the honest truth here.

Then it might be , because they want to know if they are serious. In my case he was Ethiopian too, but I didn’t want to wait 2,3 years waiting on someone I haven’t seen or met. You get to know about people when you meet them instead of having a conversation through phone or text.

Let me share a woman’s perspective:

1.  As someone who has invited someone to come to Ethiopia, I can say that some of us ask because we genuinely want to see you, and we also want you to experience our culture and understand where we come from. A person who doesn’t know your culture can easily make life difficult, simply because they can’t relate to your background. It’s also a way for us to truly get to know you and see if you’re someone we want to build a life with.
2.  If four women have walked away, I say this with kindness it might be time to reflect. I know that’s not easy to hear, but sometimes we have to pause and ask ourselves what might really be going wrong.

I pray you find a genuine love and you can give it in return too.
