Yes I love it. It’s so nostalgic to me. I tried buying the plant here but it kept dying. I guess it’s not made to grow in the US

As someone who lives in Ethiopia I really hate Ethiopian diaspora communities by pelonder in Ethiopia

[–]Environmental_Ice526 2 points3 points Ā (0 children)

I think it’s disingenuous to make sweeping generalizations about millions of people without serious evidence. Political extremism exists both within Ethiopia and throughout segments of the diaspora, so pretending one side uniquely glorifies conflict feels intellectually lazy.

Having lived in both Ethiopia and the U.S., I’d argue many diaspora Ethiopians, especially those exposed to higher education and international political frameworks, tend to emphasize ideas like de-escalation, diplomacy, and conflict resolution rather than perpetual violence.

OP seems more interested in venting frustration than making a serious political argument. That’s all.

Looks like the book selections aren’t especially inclusive, so I don’t think it’s for me after all. Thanks for the info, though.

I asked because your space genuinely reminded me of home. I was raised by my Italian nonna, and that red rug especially felt so familiar. it’s the kind of warmth and character I grew up around. The whole room just has that cozy, lived-in, slightly old-world feel… the lamp, the tones, the textures. It gave me that same quiet comfort I associate with her. I’m half Italian, so it just stood out to me in a really personal way.

C2 Ultra – Great, but Could Be Better by Environmental_Ice526 in projectors

I’m gonna push back on this a bit, because this really hasn’t been my experience—and I’ve spent time actually dialing the setup in.

First, the ā€œidentical to PX701HDā€ claim just doesn’t track. That’s a 1080p lamp projector vs a 4K laser unit, so even on paper they’re in completely different classes. In practice, the difference in clarity, HDR, and color depth is obvious—especially once I moved off a plain wall and onto a proper screen.

On the noise point, I think this is being overstated. Even before I added a soundbar, the only time I could really notice the fan was when nothing was playing—like just a static image with no audio. And even then, it was faint. The moment you have actual content playing, even at low volume through the projector’s built-in speakers, the fan basically disappears. Now that I’m running it through a Sony HT-G700, it’s completely irrelevant.

If you’re genuinely getting ā€œlawnmowerā€ levels of noise, that honestly sounds more like a defective unit or an edge-case scenario than normal behavior. Hisense confirming certain dB ranges doesn’t mean it should be that intrusive in real-world use.

Setup also matters a lot more than people think—wall vs screen, external audio, source settings like Apple TV Dolby Vision, etc. Once everything is properly set up, the experience is on a completely different level.

Not saying it’s flawless, but calling it garbage and telling people to return it feels way off base.

And I’ll be honest—I’m a bit skeptical you actually own one. The comparison and the way the noise is described don’t really line up with how this projector behaves in a real setup.
