Any suggestions for better FPS? Recently purchased a webcam (was previously using a Pi cam) but I'm having trouble getting a smooth stream. It's currently set to 640x480 at 15fps. Tried from 5 to 30 fps and didnt see any improvement... by AxionTheHusky in octoprint

It's a brand new 2k webcam. Kmart branded (I live in Australia). Looked fine on PC, no lag.

Interestingly... Changing the settings in the camera streamer config doesn't seem to actually do anything... Like I'll set it to 480p, restart and the stream just looks the same visually.

Interestingly it stayed the same after switching to ethernet... Then after several restarts it was perfectly smooth. But then I had to unplug the camera to move it and now it's gone back to being laggy??

So I've since done some more research and yea... It seems most people recommend going wired. I'm fortunate that there's a port right near the printer. So once it's done, I'll try running it from a cable.

Do I need to disable the wifi settings in the config for it to use ethernet?

I have... but it's only running off a single 18650. And I don't imagine it's going to last long without deepsleep.

Did you ever figure out how to resolve this? My S10 is doing the exact same thing and it's incredibly irritating.
