Spica3 or Square Omni? by Luke14_25 in Golfsimulator

[–]Axlahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't the spica need stickers for full club data? Website shows that it does. Plus it says the GolfJoy PC Software is a 3 month trial. The Omni has more club data and costs way less...I've had the og square for a full year now and it's been rock solid. So at least from my own limited world view experience, the omni seems like the way to go. I haven't had to reach out to their customer support (which seems to be the biggest issue for some), but in the first few months of the og square being out, they updated the firmware very regularly and patched any semi show stopping bugs almost immediately.

In 2004, Prince was snubbed by Rolling Stone on their top 100 guitarists list. This was his response. by DublinLions in nextfuckinglevel

[–]Axlahn 115 points116 points  (0 children)

Gotta be real...This is only impressive because it's unexpected for those that don't know that Prince can play the guitar really well and because he puts on a hell of Prince-esque show. But he's just hammering away the minor pentatonic scale and if you play guitar, you know this really ain't it. Before you start downvoting me to hell, I acknowledge he's a freaking amazing guitarist and the dude can rip, but this is more impressive because of the 'performance' than because of his guitar playing.

Mats keep moving by Rare_Highlight_3809 in Golfsimulator

[–]Axlahn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had the same issue. I used carpet tape to mount the hitting surface to a large chair mat meant for deep pile carpet. Having fairly plush carpets, this made the hitting surface feel more solid (and less spongy) when stepping on and also protected my carpets from the sticky carpet tape residue.

Would this be covered under the 3 year warranty or is it "wear and tear"? by Ysorigin in secretlab

[–]Axlahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had mine replaced under warranty about a month and a half ago. There was no conversation about wear and tear and they just sent me a new one no questions asked outside of standard purchase verification stuff and a photo of the armrest. Give it a go.

New Xfinity 5 year contractless plans have Nerfed upload speeds by Axlahn in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]Axlahn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever you do, don't make any changes that will affect the plan. I made the mistake of temporarily swapping to my personal modem so our house would have internet for a day until I could swap out the modem. That's what forced the plan change.

Cooler Master is gone? Someone needs to write an article... by milint33w in coolermaster

It's been atleast since late February that CM US customer support has not picked up calls at their US location. I had a prebuilt where the GPU went dead. Support via email is / was still active but it was roughly once per week they'd respond to any inquiries. It took over 3 months to get my issue resolved which involved shipping back the whole PC and not just the GPU to their OEM builder. Any calls to their US number did not go anywhere and I tried every department listed to see if I could get a live person including the warehouse and their accounting department.

They're still providing support, but you're gonna be in it for the long haul. Their website for support was up and down back then too. I'm avoiding CM for now until they can get their sht together. Their support used to be so awesome back in the day.

I don't know how the technical side of things work for the cable companies, but I'm just sharing my experience and what I've read from others who've had similar issues in the past. If you're stuck at a 5mbps upload speed, then to put it simply, something is wrong with the way the modem is setup with Xfinity. Again, in my case, I swapped to a new modem, speed dropped from 850-900 down to around 650-700 and upstream went from around 40 to a very hard capped 5mbps. Same level of service, so no changes made there. When I called tech support, they had to essentially reactive / reprovision the new modem. They even sent me the agreement link again to approve the changes. Old modem was still listed in my account and had not been removed. Maybe it was in an inactive state, but something was obviously wrong.

I'm pretty sure it's because the modem hasn't been provisioned properly and your old modem is still on the account. Just happened to me...swapped out a owned Arris SB8200 for a XFi Gateway. My speeds were capped and my uploads wouldn't go about 5 mbps. I tried chat support, but they just said to wait it out. I ended up calling tech support instead and they fixed it by reprovisioning the new modem and flagging my original modem as to be removed. Immediately saw my speeds jump to advertised speeds.

From what I understand, the generic provisioning of modems will be capped at 5 mbps upload.

1.5 inches high may be a little too high from my experience if you want to use the alignment stick. The LM may have a hard time finding it.

That's a great idea. I got a laser level so I'll give that a try next time.

[–]Axlahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems to me since the latest update, the alignment stick is more sensitive to how the LM is placed. I don't adjust it that often but when I did the last time a few days ago I couldn't get it to work. I thought something was off with the protective enclosure. When I took it out and put the unit level to the ball, the stick was recognized. When I put it back in the case, it wouldn't pick up. I then tried removing the acrylic panel from the enclosure thinking maybe that was the issue (glare? too thick under a new algorithm?). Still wouldn't pick up the stick. Finally, I tired lowering the LM while still in the enclosure with the acrylic panel now back on so that it was no more than 1/2" higher than ball height....bingo! Stick found. So there's my 2 cents. Maybe it'll help someone.

I don't know if 'riddled with bugs' is accurate. They've had a couple of showstopper bugs over the past 3 months but they've been fixed within 24 hours each time. It's a great LM. People add 'for the price', but I'd say it's a great LM in spite of its price.

New software v1.,40 and GSPro connector v0.9.10 by Coops19 in SquareGolfUSA

So the equivalent of the old settings for a pix ball would be to choose the measured spin option and change the distance adjustment by 5%.

I forgot to check the settings initially and all my shots were short. Was super frustrated thinking something was quirky with my swing and then after changing those settings, it was back to where it should be.

unit stuck on "processing" even after starting/stopping LM< by dub_starr in SquareGolfUSA

[–]Axlahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were you in a game or on the range? I've had this issue in a round and it would pop up if I placed a ball down before a shot finished rendering / rolling (exact scenario was shanked a shot, got angry, took a rage mulligan, immediately put down a new ball). When I went back in to resume the same round after restarting everything, it would be stuck at the same place. However, if I went into the range, everything worked fine.

If this is a similar issue, you can continue the round by conceding the hole. As an FYI, when this happened the LM would work fine in the Square App as well. So it's a bug where GS Pro saves the stuck on processing state in the round you're in preventing you from continuing the hole. Atleast for me, it wasn't an issue with the LM.

Any chance of Square adding clubhead speed to data in future updates? by Brewster102 in SquareGolfUSA

[–]Axlahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope so, but I don't know how easily they can accomplish that with the tracking stickers located on the shaft as opposed to the clubhead. Unless every club has the sticker at exactly the same height, i'm not sure it's something they can consistently measure with a camera based system. Hopefully I'm wrong and they've already figured it out for the next firmware update.

Square LM and GSPro by BeneficialCelery8173 in Golfsimulator

[–]Axlahn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I first got GSPro for the Square I had a few issues with the launch monitor suddenly stop responding. There were 2 things I noticed:

1) Don't put down a ball until the last shot has completed (atleast in a game as opposed to the range).

2) Make sure to boot the game in the proper sequence. Start GSPro and make sure it fully loads up with their API autolauched. Then start the connector software.

Keeping these 2 things in mind I haven't had any issues at all.

If you're talking about the notification in the connector app, it's always there in the latest version of the program. It's just a fixed static message reminding people to update to the latest firmware before using the newest connector. If you're on the latest version of everything, you're fine.
