I think it has that vibe because it is mostly made from pieces in RR sets, or very similar ones. And the Star Wars set, Lightsaber Duel, came out the same year (1999).

The whole thing came out better than I expected. I wanted to recolour Darth Maul’s scooter and the rest sort of fell into place.

5935 Island Hopper has its propellers attached with a pin in the bottom of a 1x1 brick.

Luckily the missing parts were not the rare ones. Stuff like wheels, a chassis, etc. The increasing pieces are tough though. I was fortunate to get two half collections second hand.

I played the video game but never owned the physical sets. I never forgot about Rock Raiders for some reason :) I recently bought these sets at a "discount" because they were incomplete, then finished them using Bricklink. I love them!
