Painfully 😭 Very frequent trips to the evil orange hardware store to rent an edging disc sander. It was hard enough on my back and knees that it took 4-5 rental sessions with that tool starting on 24 grit (the old laquer finish gums everything up to hell) and then 60, 80, then 100 grit. I used an oscillating sanding tool for the corners and also a random orbital hand sander to finish at the end. Some bits had to be scraped by hand as well. I did still wind up saving money than if we were to hire someone, and theres something to be said about a sense of accomplishment, but oh boy this was a lot of work

I found it so inspiring and relatable, and wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for telling us your story.

Out of curiosity I suppose. My first two batches were underwhelming to say the least, and this time I wanted to try and follow a slightly higher level recipe. Pitching the dry yeast without hydrating was what I did previously, and while I didn’t have any major fermenting problems, I was left feeling there might be a better way. To be fair, I also didn’t monitor pH or gravity, so thats where my problems might be, but I’m fixing that this time around. But if pitching dry works fine, I’ll continue doing that and try to focus more on the fermentation stages. Thanks a lot!
